Mom's sock-Amish Dolls

In trying out my new camera the other night I took some photos.
Sitting on my recliner I snapped this photo of the Amish Dolls my mother used to make out of socks.

Next to it is the bunny rabbit that I made out of a old quilt. I made three things, a bunny, a teddy bear and a heart out of that old quilt. It was a quilt that was on Bud's side of the family and his sister Judy wanted a remembrance of the lady who's quilt it was. Therefore, I worked around the holes and made the animals.

In seeing the dolls that my mother had made it reminded me of one of her last Thanksgivings here on earth with us.
I lived 40 miles away, Mom was cooking dinner. When I woke up Thanksgiving morning there was way too much snow on the ground for me to drive my small car the 40 miles.
So, my older brother came 30- miles from Findlay to Decatur and picked me up and we headed out the other 40 miles to go to Mom's for dinner.

Upon arriving---Mom told me she was surprised to see us the way the weather was.
My reply, we are here to eat and run, He has chains on his car so he will get me back to Decatur and get back home himself.
I don't think I even helped wash dishes that day. But was able to enjoy a home cooked meal.

We have not had any snow this fall yet, I sure am hoping history doesn't repeat itself and I wake up to 11" of snow like I did that morning.

The smallest payroll check ever.

Friday when doing payroll, I was zipping right through it, then stopped dead still.

Wait.....this guy only worked 8 hours, and he went hunting. Yet he has both health insurance and child support to pay for the week.

WHATTTTT? You gotta be kidding me....It comes out to $ .12 clear......Now what am I to do?

Since he is sitting in a deer stand miles and miles away, OF COURSE he will not answer my phone call, SO I must make a decision.....Does he only get his 12 cents for the day, or can the child support be adjusted since he only worked 8 hours?

After two phone calls and a on line form that does the calculation we got it that he got $ 23.42 more according to the on line calculation. If the employee does not work a full week it can be calculated what to pay for the child support.

WHOOPIE DOOOO...... So now his check is $ 23.54 for a day's pay and they will probably send us a updated child support withholding sheet that shows that he is $23.42 behind in his child support.

Today When he was in here at lunch we were both laughing about it. That isn't even grocery money. But now he knows he must work one full day to cover his health insurance, child support and 401K payment. So now tomorrow he can start making money for next week's check.

HOPE HE HAD A BIT OF MONEY SAVED SO HE HAD FOOD IN THE HOUSE WHEN HE WENT HUNTING.

Caught in the Act.

When things get a bit nutty at the office Julie and I will sometimes just take a few moments and do something totally different just to relax and regroup.
Yesterday she was caught in the act.

I heard her at her desk showing a couple of the service guys the toy that she has bought for her son for Christmas.
Yep, playing with it.

What will she have to play with after she wraps it and gives it to Tyler?

The other day when it came to the office we took it out of the box, took all the small ties off so that on Christmas Day Tyler will be able to open the box and begin playing with it without waiting for Mom and Dad to take it out of the box since everything is tied to the boxes with numerous plastic ties.

With as much fun that his mother is having with this toy, I am sure Tyler will have just as much fun with it. It talks, told her that the stapler was a extreemly heavy load, but dumped it anyway.
