84+ Degrees at 7 A.M.

Lots of heat,   the Good Lord must have turned the furnace on outside.  It is 84 Plus degrees and it was not even 7 a.m. yet.   That is how we felt the first three days of this week.

When it is above 70 degrees that early in the morning you can bet :
1.) That the phones will be doing a non-stop ringing all day long.
2.) People will be tremendously impatient with you because they are hot.
3.) Your service men will not be able to keep up with the calls.
4.) You will be behind 1-5 days by the end of the day.
5.)  People hate paying the extra to get it that night.
6.)  Everybody that calls feels they are more important to you then the guy who called in the day before.
7.)  You have to watch yourself or you too will be upset with the people in general.
8.)  You may or may not get time to go to lunch.
9.)  That you will be taking messages all day for the salesmen, because after you have given them a couple of
phone calls they will have disappeared out of the office.
10.)You will not get out of the office on time.
11.) You are so tired that you really don't care which end is up.
12.)  Therefore, You do NOT WANT TO HEAR THE PHONE RING WHEN YOU GET HOME!!!!

I am grateful that today it is not as hot as it had been earlier this week, yet when I look at the forecast for next week it looks like the first 1/2 of the week will once again be a scorcher out there.

Having such a busy summer here, I sure am looking forward to the end of the year, when I can say "I'm Out of here"

SO, STAY COOL EVERYBODY AND REMEMBER IF YOU ARE THE PERSON WHO HAS CALLED A REPAIR PERSON AND THEY ARE BOOKED---they don't make the rules, they just have to follow them....They don't set the rates they just have to enforce them.

STAY COOOOOLLLLLL!

July 3, 2011-- Kenley fun.

On July 3, Bud and I headed for Bloomington to see the kids.  Bud had not seen the new house since they had moved in and we also wanted to have some Kenley time. And see the kids.
We had a lovely visit, and in the afternoon we went to take Kenley to the water park.
She was all decked out ready to go get wet.
Then all of a sudden--- Kim was able to capture  (THE FACE)   She has been making faces like this at us, but we were never able to capture it on camera.
(Oh, wait till she is a lot older and we show her this one). hee, hee.
I LOVE IT!

This is her favorite portion of the water park is the ring.....

Grandpa called to her and she stopped to look up at him.

Yes, this grandma got in there and got wet too.  No, I did not have a swim suit on, and my shorts were wet, but as hot as it was that day it didn't take long for them to dry.

She also loves to swing.    She had a great time that afternoon, and really didn't want to leave---until mommy promised her a pop sickle when she got home.
I really enjoyed being able to spent time with our kids and granddaughter.  It was a lot of fun.

Moving the Brockman household

A couple of weeks ago I helped move my daughter and family into their new house.
Two weeks ago I took off on Wednesday night and headed to our daughter's house to help them move into their new house.

They closed on the house on Wednesday and on that evening before I retired for the night I had 3/4 of her kitchen packed in boxes and bags.

Thursday morning we loaded the kitchen stuff into their two cars and Kim, Cheryl and I headed for the new house. (Kenley was privileged to spent her day at the sitters like normal)  Tom (Clay's dad) and Clay were moving the furniture and heavier things.

We unloaded the cars and Kim and Cheryl started unpacking boxes and bags.  Putting the kitchen together the way she wanted it.

Plans were to take a couple of days for the furniture so that they wouldn't get too tired.
By noon I saw there was not going to be anything in the old house to eat or drink, so I informed Clay they best move the beds as everything needed in the kitchen was at the new house.  Wow....sleeping at the new house that night?

By the time it was time to go get Kenley that evening we had the toy room put together.  The new living room furniture had been delivered and the kitchen and pantry stuff was put away.  She wanted the kitchen table and chairs there too, and I still had the freezer stuff to get.  I needed all the grocery bags to carry it.  So I took our truck and back to the old house I went.  The kitchen table is not a large table and I knew I could manage it alone....But  oh,,HO   I smashed my small finger between the table and the tail gate....Yep I saw stars..... for a moment.

I had moved her kitchen in clothes baskets and open faced boxes.  I had told her I would be able to do so and not break anything....OOPPPS  I lied...I broke a egg.   Yes, one egg.  The egg dish was sitting on the top of one of those bags and as I proceeded to put another bag next to it in the car....it hit the eggs and one broke.....  I thought that was pretty good tho...nothing major was broken!

I got back to the house and it was starting to rain.....ya  the beds were there and the table could be wiped.  Clay and I unloaded the table and the freezer stuff and put it in the freezers and set up the table so that there was room for Kenley to sit to eat.
We were done before Kim got home with Kenley.
They brought her into the new house for the first time with her things there.
It was great to see her face as she discovered her things.

Then when she went upstairs and saw her bathroom:
By Friday night we had everything at the new house except   the treadmill and the stuff out of the storage shed.
Saturday morning I went to the old house and cleaned. I thought I had it all cleaned but later discovered that I missed the microwave.  (My excuse for that was  they had taken my step stool to the new house so I would not have been able to reach it anyway).  Actually I simply missed it.  Clay ended up cleaning it and the gutters on Monday evening.
Yep, by the time I got home on Saturday night to see how Bud was doing since he was home with blood clots in his legs, I was really tired.  Taking things up the stairway was hard on this grandma's knees.

I see she is really enjoying her play area.

I am inviting all my friends to slip on over to her blog and see what it looks like within a week of them moving in.
