Truffles

I found a recipe to make homemade truffles using oreo cookies. Didn't make a whole lot, but do believe mine were bigger then a inch round. I used chocolate chips to melt, instead of the bakers chocolate, but they do taste okay.

Is he stuck?

I never see deer in this little spot of water. The other day as I passed this spot to go walking I noticed this as I passed. A hour later it looked the same. I had to wonder if he was stuck in the muck and I should call the park ranger so I took my photos. Honked my horn and went down and turned around. Then he was gone. Glad he was not stuck! Was there one or two? Don't really know, but they must have been enjoying the cool water to stay there over a hour when traffic was so close by. Plus it was in the middle of the day.

Cows

The other evening we were out back on the golf cart and the neighbors cows were up by the fence. Bud was fascinated with them. But, sorry to say I was half scared of them. Yes, I know I come from the farm but that one looked. Like she could charge at us in no time flat, and that fence didn't look the sturdiest to me. But, I did notice that they had tags in their ears. And some of them had three tags. A couple also looked like they might be expecting calves soon.

Challenges ahead.

Just when you think things are going well. Along comes another challenge. A couple months ago, I noted that when I watched Bud walk that he was not walking correctly. He said his knee hurt. I told him that day that it was not is knee but his hip that was causing the trouble. He didn't believe me, but I finally convinced him to go see Dr. Huss and have him check it out.

Some tests and X-rays were done. And confirmed what I had said was true. The hip that had been replaced in 1999 was going, gone bad. Thus all the pain!

Hip revision.......not your ordinary hip replacement. Neither Dr. Huss or Dr. Racraft will touch them. Therefore, we were referred to McLean County Orthopedics. Dr. Chokski who they say is extremely good at what he does. We met with him last week and he confirmed that it needed to be fixed it would not get any better. Today all the preop stuff was done and surgery is scheduled for June 21st.

A revision is a totally different ball game from the original hip replacement.
Taking the hip out is very tedious and the. Glue has to be chiseled out of the bone. (he said he hoped the bone would not fracture when he did this) instead of a hour and a half surgery it could be up to a four hour surgery. Recovery time After surgery is about the same as the other two hip replacements.

So, for four to six weeks our routine here will be totally different again. Bath time will have to be done at the bath house. And great care will have to be taken so That he doesn't fall.

So we will probably be spending a lot of time either on the deck or in the yard the next number of weeks?

Sunday noon lunch time.

Bud wanted me to get lots closer in hopes they would chase me. NO WAY. We used to have geese on the farm, and the last thing I want today is to be flopped by a goose/gander or have him pinch me.

Keep on hanging on.

Sometimes I feel a bit like this fellow.  Oh wait, he is dead.  I at least am above the green grass yet!

Keep on hanging on, God is in control. He knows everthing that is happening in our lives, he even knows when Jody hit this frog and he died.

Keep on, keeping on, keep on hanging onto God's promises!

Thinking of summer and wonderful flowers.

Past few days- reflections

Yesterday we got more wood. So now we can have more campfires.
Bud loves to have fires in our new fire ring.

This ring is much larger then the other one that we had.  So I  need to get a longer poker to stir it.

So. I do not have to use my garden hoe to stir it. Hahahaha it worked. That was all I cared.

Today when walking at the park I again saw this big tree and have to wonder how old it really is.

I saw two lovely yellow butterfly's playing as they floated down the path. And it reminded me that we too should enjoy life, and not be so up tight about things we have no control over.

I had made a run into Decatur this morning, had made my list of places I needed to be so that hopefully I didn't miss anything. Then headed to Macon so I could get a haircut from Sandy as we really do not know what the next number of weeks holds for us.

Picked up X-rays at Dr. Huss's office to take with us in the morning when we go to the McClain County orthopedic center and meet with the doctor to see what needs to be done to Bud's hip that is causing him lots of pain and making it hard for him to walk.

Dr. Huss, Dr. Racraft, do not do this type of surgery. It is a revision, of the hip that was replaced. One in 1998 and the other in 1999. One is going bad and the other one they say is not far behind it. Yikes! That doesn't make us very happy at all! Then they proceeded to tell him that this was a totAlly. Different ball game from regular hip replacement surgery.

We know it will need to be done. But I want to have them do it as soon as possible. I do not want to wait till it is cold and icy outside. But, guess we shall just have to wait and see what he says tomorrow.

Ouch

OUCH. What is stuck in my shoe? Something is sticking me.
It was very small in size ...less then a inch long, wait it has an eye in it. How in the world could that small needle have lodged itself in my shoe? It had gone thru my tennis shoe sole and was sticking up on the inside. We had to go to the shed and get a needle nose plyers and even then it took Bud a bit to remove it from my shoe. He thought it was a staple when he first saw it, but it was the smallest needle I have seen. Truthfully I don't think I would even use a needle that small. I would not be able to thread it, the eye was very small! As you can almost see in the photo it was bent. That tip was sticking my foot when I tried to walk. Man that tiny little creature could produce a lot of pain!

So I can only imagine what kind of pain Bud is going thru at the moment. His right hip has gone bad. Dr says it is deteriorating and needs to be repaired/replaced. More on that to come.
