Alone again.
New Years Eve and sitting here alone again. The Road Warrier (Bud) has left to do his duty and make sure that the people who are partying don't drink and drive. There are 5 couples going out this evening and he is taking the Miles bus and making sure they are all safe. Pat told them the only way they could take the bus was if Bud was their driver. They are buying him a steak dinner, and that is probably good because it may be a while before he gets a regular meal again. He thinks he should be back here at home by 4 A.M. next year.
At 5 A.M. Darwin is to meet him at Miles and take him to St. Louis Airport to catch his flight to Boston, MASS. to pick up a vehicle in Milford, MASS. He should be back from there sometime on Friday==1102 miles.
Saturday afternoon he goes to Indianapolis , IN airport to pick up the Dawson kids who are in Florida celebrating their christmas present from Jack & Laura. Spending a week in Florida in a condo.
Sunday morning he leaves for Florida -driving Jim and Sue Dawson's car. and Flys back on Tuesday into Peoria, IL airport. He comes home with Mike Dawson when he takes his parents to Peoria to catch their flight down to Florida for 6 -8 weeks.
Wednesday noon he then takes my boss, Ron and Donna Wilson to Indianapolis, IN. to the air port to catch their flight to Fort Meyer, Florida. Where they will be gone until April sometime.
Thursday he says he is taking the day off......WELL, daaa...he will probably callapse by then. Over 3,000 driving in the next few days.
SO, again I say --- Alone again.
Looking on the bright side.
No meals to cook.
No extra food to buy for the week end. I can simply use a gift certificate or two and eat out. Plus on Saturday The Beachy's are gathering for brunch in Chesterville for their Christmas gathering.
No problem going to Julie's tomorrow to try and get Brandon's comforter done.
No problem working on Friday - he won't be home anyway.
Doing Payroll on the normal day that payroll is done. Don't understand why they were so upset today. They will get their checks the same time they normally do. Anytime after 10 A.M. on Friday.

Some People are really ticked at me.
Guess they think I am ruining their lives since I am not doing payroll today, like I did last week before Christmas.
I plan on coming in on Friday even tho nobody else around here is going to be working that day. I will get payroll done and Bod did say he would stop in sign them for me. So, I told the guys they could pick up their checks between 11 and 1 on Friday. (This allows me not to have to adjust time cards for 2-3 weeks in a row when I am doing payroll). Plus if I come in when everybody else is gone. I should be able to get a couple of those reports done that need my undivided attention and get them done 20 times faster then if I tried to do them when the phones were ringing, and people were being impatient with us.
I found this greeting card at noon at Giggles (downtown) when I went down to Pastabilities for salad and bread sticks. I simply could not resist. I had to have it. The inside says "Happy Birthday from your favorite Bitch!".
Don't know if I will ever use the card to give away or not, but sure do like the front.
P.S. Also found a pickle Christmas tree ornament. But not as big as the one you got Kim.
My thinking on the whole ordeal is. I am still working in December and not ready to go to 2009. Next payroll is 2009 payroll, and they will simply have to get over it!

Who gave me her Bunny?
Who gave me the Bunny? If my memory serves me correctly it was Miss Kimberly Anne Coleman who gave me the Bunny. And I do believe it was when she was going off to college and I was sad that she was leaving.
He has had many a hug when I would get homesick for her and she was too far away for me to get a hug from her.

Week end drawing to a close
Our long week end is drawing to a close. In the morning it will be back to the grind stone (At Least for 3 days next week.
Month end, year end. I am sure there are a lot of reports that I will need to do.
The boss will want to go to Florida on the 7th of January and he likes to see as many of these reports he can before he goes.
Will I be able to get them all done? Don't Know.
My question to me is "Do you remember all the reports that need to be done?"
I don't think I have written down all the reports that I need to do at year end before the books go to the auditors for tax time. Sometimes I think I'd best make myself a list to refer to, but have really never sat down and did it. Somehow I always manage to remember all of them and they all get done in due time.
My first priorities in the morning will be doing the time book from last weeks time cards as I know one of the first reports he likes to see is the Productivity Report.
Who has been productive in 2008 and who has been a slacker?
This reminds me of a report I saw years ago, when he graded everybody on a scale from 1-10. I was being compared to his own daughter...wow.... Appearance....well daaaa...of course she got a great grade. I don't specialize in make up and perfume. But I do know my clothes are clean and presentable.
But when it came to Dependability......OH YES ! I out ranked her!!!!
I've always said, I am not at that office for my looks --- I am there to work and do my job. People will just simply have to accept me for being me.
I don't remember all the other categories that he had on his list, but these two have always stuck out to me. It also makes me know, Never judge a person by their looks. (Never judge a book by it's cover--- it might be a great book). And the personalities and characters of people, they may be the sweetest people you know.
It's been a wonderful 4 days away from the office. But Monday morning, back to reality. You have a job to do - so off to work we go.
But before the day comes to a end. I will join the church ladies at Carlos O'Kelly's for our December meeting. We postponed it from the week day night that it was scheduled for due to the ice and snow. So, we still have another Christmas celebration to go to. With a white elephant gift exchange. It could prove to be rather interesting. But always so much fun.! Don't know if we will make it to Sunday evening service at church or not. The Gates family is singing tonight. And since Amy and I went to Red Lobster for Lunch, I do believe it will be desert only at Carlos....FRIED ICE CREAM HERE I COME..........Diet must start tomorrow.

Memories
When putting the living room back together after taking the tree down, I picked up this teddy. He has a black yarn string tied around his neck and a note hanging from the string.
I gave him a big hug. And read the note a number of times. Then set him up so I can see him everyday.
When I feel sad or blue, I pick him up, give him a big, big hug and as I cuddle him, remember that "Some bunny Loves me!"

Day After
So on the day after, do we all have a sugar high?
Nope, not me, I didn't overeat and definitely not on sugar.
The hash brown casserole was delicious.
The festivities were grand. There were a few surprises in the day.
My daughter surprised me with a tote bag that she made. It was a year in the making, but I will always treasure it!
Check out her Christmas post: http://10in10challengeoffriends.blogspot.com/2008/12/very-merry-christmas.html
Bud has two Indianapolis, IN. air port runs today. One early this morning and one this evening. So since I have the day off, I will try and do some laundry and work in the sewing room a bit. I may even start the project that I want to send to my co worker's brother in Baghdad. If I get all that done, I do have another quilt top that I could put into frame to get quilted this winter.
But then, I could just plain watch tv, lounge around and do nothing all day. (Something that the ladies with little ones in the house cannot normally do for a whole day).
So my day after should be a quiet one here at home staying warm.
I hope and trust everybody had a wonderful Christmas like we did!
P.S. Someone in the family letter ask me if Santa was bringing me everything I ask for. I really only had one request of Santa. To this date he has not been able to deliver to me that request. Until then---we will keep hoping that someday he will be able to do so.

Merry Christmas
In case I don't get back to blogging before the end of the holiday.
I just want to wish everybody a safe and Merry Christmas.
The weather is nicer this morning 40 degrees... Not the 30 degrees we had yesterday with the falling ice pellets and rain that made driving and walking very treacherous.
Never have I had to salt my way into my own home. I started up the sidewalks with my 50 pound bag of salt. Only to slide back thru the gate again. Reached for my phone to phone Bud to tell him to throw me a scissors so I could open the salt bag, when he opened the door. So, he tossed me the scissors and a plastic cup and I started to salt my way to the door.
David, the shop man just got in, he stated our parking lot out back is a joke. He finally just pulled straight in so that he wouldn't hit the other guys car that has been parked out back, since he is out of time yet.
I knew the front lot was icy, because I had to hang onto the steering wheel when I got in and out of my car if I didn't want to land flat on my butt.
Getting the ice on top of the ice already on the streets and parking lot then rain on top of it, makes it very slick.
Have ordered the Arby's Roast beef to be picked up at One. Hope it stays warm enough so Kim and Clay don't have any trouble coming over this afternoon to have Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa and Evie.
The girls from Curves never showed up this morning, So guess the boss will get an extra hour out of me today. And since it is year end payroll today, I know I will have plenty to keep me busy till I want to leave.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL! And Safe travel if you are traveling anywhere to celebrate.

Ice, Ice and more Ice.
What does the Tica parking lot look like?
A skating rink.
What did the girls eat for lunch?
Popcorn
Did they leave for lunch?
Definitely Not, why spend our whole lunch hour scraping ice from our windshields?
Will we get to go home early?
Probably not.
Do we have to work tomorrow?
Of course!
Do you get Friday off?
YES, we do, I almost had a heart attach when they told us that.
Are you ready for Christmas?
Yes, I am.
Do you like this weather?
That's kinda a stupid question. NO, I DO NOT LIKE THIS
WEATHER ONE BIT!
Is Salt expensive?
Not really, one of the guys picked up a 50 pound bag for $ 15.00 at Garver Feeds.
Are you ready to call it a day?
I was ready a long time ago. Even if there is still stuff in my basket that I could do. Been here since 6:45 A.M. So I am rather tired.

NOT ME! Monday

I did not just get off the phone and mutter under my breath, "Lady if you have no heat GO to the kitchen and bake me some cookies" You won't freeze to death if you have your oven on. People, are so impatient! Of course, I know it is 2 Degrees outside, and if you have no heat you want a service man there as soon as possible. We have 6 guys out there working as fast as we can. We will get it as soon as we can and will call you before we want to come.
Patience Verna, patience, Some of these people are real OLD and others have kids at home.
Surprise---- I WON
Now I can't say that I never win anything. Saturday night at our Company Christmas Party I won a tool kit. Bud won a bag lawn chair.
This year we had our party at the Holiday Inn in the Kirkland Room. We had a good turn out and had lots of food and fun.
Below is a picture of what I won. YAAAAA Now I can fix almost anything I want around the house. Just have to hide my case of tools away from others in the house so they don't disappear. Already the comment was made it would be nice to have it in the truck.

Bloggy Game
Join the fun!
Katie from
http://whenhellomeansgoodbye.blogspot.com/ has challenged us to
Take a picture of your view from a window in your house (even if you don't have snow!), and post it on your blog along with the picture above (you can copy and paste it). Then link your blog back to here and post a comment so I can take a look at your winter wonderland, or your perfect paradise for you southerners (but don't rub it in too much!).
Decatur, Illinois
This was taken from our front door toward the church. Had I stopped this morning on the way to work I would have had a good one of the trees loaded with ice. We are greatful that it warmed up a bit today so that the ice, snow, ice that we had gotten started to disappear a bit.
I'm ready for summer!

Doing my Kindergarden work.
A return Label on each envelope.
Stamps on each envelope. We decided to stamp envelopes ourselves instead of buying prestamped envelopes. Every time they raise their prices I ended up putting one cent stamps on 500-1000 envelopes. And I got a bit tired of doing this every year, So I sit and stamp them in advance ready to use.
This morning I put stamps and return labels on 300 envelopes, so they are ready to use.
I call this my Kindergarten work, because I don't really have to think about what I am doing when I do it. I find it refreshing to do sometimes, because it gives me a break from all the sorting of packing slips, invoices, and purchase orders that I work with daily.
Yep, the mess from yesterday is all ready to put on the computer to payables, and file in the drawer to be paid Jan. 10, 2009. There were only 4 invoices in today's mail so at the moment, my basket is looken good!!! YAAAAA.

Christmas 2008 - Where's Santa?
2008 Christmas Season is upon us. Where is Santa and what is he up to?
Saturday Morning he appeared at the Golden Glaze Donut Shop on East William Street, In Decatur, Illinois.

His youngest visitors were 6 weeks old.
He was there from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. And there must have been 100 kids who came in to have breakfast with Santa. Sit on his lap, take pictures and get a small gift. This year the boys got hot wheels and the girls got lip balm.

Before Santa was allowed to leave, they wanted a photo of their workers with Santa.
After leaving the donut shop he appeared at Moundford Terrace Apartment Complex. There were not as many kids, but the ones who did show up had a wonderful time.

Santa was having a very good heart to heart talk with this little boy.
To the oldest person who got to sit on Santa's lap that day. It was a very enjoyable day.
Yep, I got to sit on Santa's lap. Should I uses this photo for next year's Christmas Cards?
There are those who ask "where is your Mrs. Clause outfit?" I had looked for one, but they wanted well over $100 for one and I wasn't sure I wanted to spend that much money for only wearing it such a short time.
I do believe Santa has about 4 more private duties this year and of course has to visit everybody's house on Christmas Eve.
Hope there are a lot of Santa's helpers out there this year. And that everybody has a wonderful "Merry Christmas".

The Mystery Has Been Solved. and updated
The Mystery has been solved. We now have additional photos of the church, and also a street sign so we know where to go look for it when we get out in the Mt. Vernon, South Dakota area again.
Mike came in today and said Wayne took more pictures when he was out there in the past couple of weeks. And Yep, gave the pictures to me. I am hoping I will be able to locate it next time I am in that area.
Don't know if I will ever see this in person or not, but I still think it is a wonderful building. Without the corn that was in the first picture I posted you can tell it would need a lot of work to use again.
But how many memories does it hold for people in the Mt. Vernon area? If it could speak I am sure it would have a lot of stories to tell us.
Update: 12/15/08 Mike Just informed me that Wayne says the church is in
Mt. Vernon, South Dakota not Mitchell. Therefore, my correction.

Insurance claim
The insurance claim has been made. The $50.00 deductible was paid.
(What can I go out and get for $ 50.00 now?, after all if he spent $50.00 shouldn't I be able to spend the same amount?)
The new phone was delivered to the office today. David brought it up to the front from the shop and commented about my changing my name to Forrest. He claims he didn't know Bud's legal name was Forrest. (I only call him Forrest Lowell when I am extremely perturbed with him. He knows if I call him Forrest that he best sit up straight and take notice. I am upset about something).
He came by the office around 1 and walked next door to Barbeck to get his phone turned on and the loaner phone given back to them.
So now the bet is "How long will this one last?" Or will there be another insurance claim in the next 6 months because he has abused this one.
I say I need to go see Bob Trowbridge- from church....he has some of the first cell phones they ever made. I need to get one of those supper old (Hoopty big) cell phones and display it, telling Bud if he messes this one up. He can use this hoopty one next time.

Snow bank, hot coffee or toilet
Takes a licken and keeps on ticken.....will it continue to work after being abused?
First It landed in a snow bank, was rescued and returned to owner.
Second it landed in a cup of hot coffee the owner thinking it was it's holder.
After drying out - surprise it still worked.
Third--- Now it has landed in a toilet. Will it dry out and keep on working?
What am I talking about? Bud's Cell phone what else.
Now the question is will it dry out and work again or is it totally history.
I think he should go back to carrying a real old one since he hasn't taken care of his 4-5 week old new one. What do you think?

Changes
Change things and sure enough you x something that you don't want to x and things don't appear like they used to.
I think I got the comments back up, but how did I get the funny, etc at the bottom. If you know where to go, let me know so I can remove it.
Sorry, Sherri, I hadn't checked it close enough that I noticed that.

Friendship Company Christmas dinner
Tonight we had our Friendship Company Christmas dinner at the church. And we exposed ourselves to our Precious Pals. There were not as many ladies there as sometimes, but we did have a good time.
A white elephant gift exchange and then the ones who did Precious Pals exchanged their gifts.
We always say, if you bring a nice gift for the white elephant, don't have your heart set on going home with a nice one. Someone might steal it from you if their number is after yours.
I got to keep my snowman cookie jar, my Rudolph, etc. Think I will take it to work and put it in my corner for a winter decoration at the office.
It is always fun to see if the person who's name we had could guess or knew that we had their name. Some of them have no clue.
Next year, we are trying something different. Only cards and prayers throughout the year, then a nice gift at Christmas time. Cards can be purchased cards or homemade ones. So guess, I will need to get my creative hat on and come up with some good ones.
I'm not telling who I drew for this next year. Let's just say, I hope to have a lot of fun getting and doing cards for this one.
Then there are those who wouldn't do it for this next year. They don't like change. They are the same people who don't do much throughout the year for their precious pals in the past.
I could care less about the gifts. I simply love to know that there are people out there praying for us. There when we need them, we can cry on their shoulders, tease them or laugh till we cry with them. It helps to know that there is someone out there praying for us.
The gal who's name I had this past year, commented that they would not have been able to go out to eat for their anniversary had I not given her that gift certificate for their anniversary. How sad, that in their budget they wouldn't have been able to go somewhere for a simple meal out with their spouse.

The gal who's name I had this past year, commented that they would not have been able to go out to eat for their anniversary had I not given her that gift certificate for their anniversary. How sad, that in their budget they wouldn't have been able to go somewhere for a simple meal out with their spouse.

The Photo
The photo of the old building in a prior post.
I cannot believe it, Mike gave me his original photo yesterday. The one that I took the picture of before I went to South Dakota to see if I could find out where it was.
He tells me Wayne is going out to see his family there, and do some hunting. He is instructed to get me the closest road signs so that the next time I go to South Dakota, I myself may be able to go see this building.
Per say it is somewhere west of Mitchell, South Dakota. Way out in the boonies. Guess I didn't go west far enough. As Walmart in Mitchell was the furthest West I went when I was there.
Someday, I hope to see this building in person!

Mike also tells me Wayne has additional photos of this building. Perhaps someday I will be able to see them also. This building fastinates me! A building out in the country like that, perhaps it could be renovated to be a living quarters? Oh, I know, I am much too old to think of doing something like that. But, I still have to wonder what does the inside look like? Is that a bell tower? Is the bell still there and does it ring? So, I will keep dreaming---I wish to see this building in person.

Another day, another dollar
So off he goes to St. Louis in the morning to fly to South Carolina to bring another vehicle back. Adding another state to his travels in driving vehicles back for Miles Chevrolet.
This means I will be on my own tomorrow evening. I do have a reflexology session scheduled right after work. Then it will be late Saturday p.m. before he will get back. Will I get lots done or will I curl up in that bed for another 12 hours of wonderful rest? Guess time will tell.
Today was very hectic. Julie had sick little ones, and I was on my own with the fellows. Guess when they had to answer the none stop phones while I went to lunch they found out how much we really deal with daily. Did not get my desk cleaned off yet and tomorrow is payday. Plus I believe the 10th payment is due to be totally done by the middle of next week. Looks like I'll have plenty to keep me busy the next few days. Is this what they call Job Security?

Chronic fatigue, Flu, or Fibromyalgia?
Be it chronic fatigue, flu or fibromyalgia? Or is it a case of all three working their little duties on me.
I arrived home from South Dakota in St. Louis around 8 p.m. on Friday night. I was extremely tired. Finally after contacting Northwest a number of times, our bags were finally on the carousel for pick up. They had been stuck in the chute and they litterly had to go downstairs and unstick them. Must have been stuck good. My zipper was partially broken and my handle on the back, well, let's put it this way, that suit case found it's way to the dumpster, it will not make any more travels. It has served its purpose.
Arriving at the hotel I called my husband, and he wanted to know if I would be home early enough to go to breakfast with him. My response was, "I am going to bed, and when I wake up, then I will start home".
When I got home the sun was shining and it would have been a lovely day for us to continue on to Bloomington, Il. to pick up his truck that was sitting at the airport. OH, no he would get it later. I should have insisted. Sunday morning, he wants to go get his truck. So after breakfast we head to Bloomington, amid snow. Bloomington had at least 6" if not more. There was about 8-9 inches of snow on the truck when we got there. Having no broom with us, we used ice scrapers to clear off the truck. And we head home in this crappy weather compared to what it was on Saturday p.m.
Stopped at the service station on the south side of Bloomington for something to drink. Started for Decatur, 4 blocks from the station he pulls over. He has lost his cell phone. So we went back to the station to make sure he didn't leave it in the rest room. Called the place in Clinton where we had breakfast to see if he left it on the table. NOPE, nobody had seen it. So it must have dropped off at the airport when we were cleaning off the truck. He declared it would be ruined in the snow, and even tho we were only 8-10 miles from the airport decided he would just have to put in a insurance claim in for the two week old phone that he had lost. He would not go back to see if we could find it.
So off we head for Walmart to do some shopping. When we got to Walmart, I needed to use the rest room. While sitting there, still half ticked at him for loosing his new phone, I decided to TXT his phone a message. "If you find this phone call 217 620 2061 thank you for being a honest person" I really didn't expect a phone call, but was ever so Grateful when my phone rang and it said 1Husband....I knew it was from Bud's phone. Joe, had parked his car and found it in the snow....There are still some honest people in this world...Thanks to Joe we did not have to buy a new phone. But what we did have to do - is go get the phone from airport security.
Monday Morning, it took Bud over 4 1/2 hours to go to Bloomington and back to pick up his phone. (HE should have LISTENED TO ME ON SUNDAY) The roads were terrible. He said he couldn't drive very fast, and drove with his flashers on all the way. People would pass him and 2-3 miles down the road they were off in a ditch. Twice he was off the road on the shoulder but was able to get it back on the road before hitting the ditch.
My day here at the office Monday was very hectic. My desk looked like a tornado should hit it and take care of all of it. But I did what I could and the rest would simply have to wait. Monday night we had tacos for dinner. Going down I didn't think they tasted very good. Yet I had been so hungry for Tacos so I continued to eat them. Well, I should have stopped the minute I didn't think they tasted like they should. Part of them made their way up early in the evening, the rest waited till 1:30 A.M. and I was unable to reach the toilet in time. (Yep, missed the toilet so you can only imagine what mess I had). Cleaned up my mess, grabbed a blanket and went to the couch for the rest of the night.
Yesterday, my stomach still felt queasy from the tacos, so all I was able to really feel like is drinking 7up to keep it calm. Julie was off with 2 sick kids, and I needed to be here. At lunch I tried some noodle soup, but it didn't taste very good. By 3:30 I had it. I walked into Bob's office and told him and Mike that they would have to hold down the fort for the rest of the day I was going home, I felt Like SHIT.
I went home ate hot milk/bread soup, drank a glass of milk and went to bed. Bud put his electric blanket on my bed. I slept over 12 hours.
This morning I still feel weak but not nearly as tired as I was yesterday, but am able to work. My shoulders and arms still feel like a truck run over them, but then we are supposed to still get results from our treatments up to 6 weeks after we come back. While there I was told that I had all the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia....Not something I really wanted to hear, but not surprising to me either. I know how tiered I have been the past number of months. And my muscles have been giving me fits for a long time. From leg cramps, foot cramps to arms that want to sleep constantly. My arms aren't asleep since I've been to S.D. but they do tingle up to the elbows when I get tired. He told me to definitely not quit Curves as I should get as much excise as possible and most definitely not stop getting my weekly massages as they will keep my muscle tone the best possible.
So, was it chronic fatigue, flu or fibromyalgia? I think it was probably all three that have had a bearing to how I have felt the past 24 hours. There is a lot of flu going around here, but most of the people who have had it only have problems for a day, which means I shouldn't feel yucky anymore. ha.ha.
I will do what I can, the rest will wait. I have never in my whole 28 years here seen anything run off because I didn't get it done. Somehow, it always stays put and waits till I get it done.
Debating where to go for lunch. Panara Bread? They have soup, might taste good with bread. Even if it is across town from here. Roads are clear at the moment, but it sure looks as tho it could dump a bunch more snow on us at any time.
