Rain, rain, go away, I sure would....

Rain, rain, go away I sure would like to see the sun again. These dreary rainy days are not good for people who get depressed.

But, then I have to remember if it were snow instead of rain, we would be stuck at home since it is coming down in droves this noon.

So with this much rain in March How much are we going to get with April Showers Bring May Flowers?

I AM READY TO SEE SOME OF THESE FLOWERS AGAIN!

Choices, Disappointments, Answers to Prayer.

Our church is loosing our pastor as of June 7, 2009. He has been there for 7 years, but is going back to Colorado. We are sad to see them leave, but I can understand that they want to be closer to their daughter and new granddaughter.

Our superintendant was there yesterday and preached.

Choices---we all have to make them. Some we make---are good and others bad. When we make bad choices we have to live with our disappointments if things don't go the way it should or the way we thought they should because at the time we thought they were good choices.

Sometimes we don't think God is answering our prayers, and we get very discouraged and disappointed. Mom used to tell me God answers all our prayers, but sometimes his answers are not to our liking.

Yes, No, Wait a while, or sometimes just Not at this time, or what you really ask for isn't for your best.

It was stressed again yesterday that we should praise God for our Blessings, tell him our problems, then leave them in his hands. We don't have to solve everything.

So, when health, family, financial issues bog me down, I will do my share in what I can, Thank God I have what I have, toss my hands in the air and tell God, here it is, here is what I am worried about, and what my concerns are -- you figure it out.

But then God already knows the outcome. So, why do we let things worry us in the first place?

Rain today! Snow tomorrow??

Raining today, and by 3 a.m. tomorrow it is supposed to be snow. Probably not a lot here in central Illinois, but west of I55 I guess it supposed to be heavier.

Illinois Weather.....if you don't like it one day, wait a day it will be totally different.

Will this be the last of winter? We hope so, but we don't know.
A Good day to stay in where it is warm. And watch the Law and Order: Special Victims Marathon on television.

Don't call the cops

The dining room has very little in it that will need to be moved before they put the carpeting down. I am hoping to move the small freezer into kitchen and put the small refrigerator on top of it.

Then also putting the tv and Buds chair in the kitchen. The two small pantry cabinets will probably be pushed into the half bath downstairs.

But, if you walked into our apartment today you would think we were robbed.
No, Verna has been busy, I carried all the DVD's upstairs last night. One big, two small suit cases and a clothes basket full, I didn't realize there were that many DVD's.

Makes the place look a lot bigger then it really is.

After the carpeting gets put down and we can bring things back downstairs, we want to regroup and redo how things are arranged. I do plan on bringing the cedar chest back downstairs. (Hope I have help getting it down, but if not I guess I can bring it down like I took it up) One step at a time and having laid it on its top so I can slide it on the carpeting.

So, even tho I played hookie yesterday afternoon, I actually worked harder then if I had stayed at work and put my time in at the office.
I'm going to try and keep my hobby/craft things all upstairs except for the project that I am working on at that time. Right now it is on the card table in front of my chair.

Happy Birthday to my friend Heidi

Today I want to wish my friend Heidi in Canada a very Happy Birthday!
I did call her last night so that I wouldn't forget, just in case I got real busy today. It was nice to be able to speak to you!

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Love You!

Biofreeze

Biofreeze: Pain relieving Gel (with Ilex)
Deep penetrating, long lasting pain relief from:
Arthritis- sore muscles & joints- back pain.

Kinda sad tho when you use this stuff like hand lotion so that your arms, wrists and fingers don't hurt, so you can type and get your work done.

Today I can't even wear my rings or my watch they are hurting so badly. Is it Arthur moving in? Don't know, but if it is he sure could find a different home!

Since work is so slow right now and it is so beautiful outside, I am seriously thinking of playing hookie this afternoon and not coming back after lunch. After all it would only be taking 2 1/2 hours off of work, And I Am SURE I have given more then two hours to this company when we have been busy.

I am so ready to take a vacation!

Excitement in the Neighborhood

On the above photo you can see two of the about 10 undercover police that are surrounding the house just down from the office front door.

How do we know they were undercover? Well who else would have a police in a bullet proof vest, plus a K9 there too?

One of our guys came back from taking things to Fed Ex to mail and said they were parked down the street and walked up to this house.
They surrounded the house. Beat on the door, Screamed if they didn't open up they would send the dog in.

Shortly there after they came around the front of the house and they had a fairly young man handcuffed with them.

What did he Do? We don't know, guess we will have to watch the papers and see if Sting busted another guy for drugs.

Excitement in the Neighborhood. When we moved into this building in March of 1993 we felt safer then we did on Railroad Ave. But truly, are we safe anywhere these days?
Violence surrounds us where ever we go.
We must all be on our toes, and watch out for our own safety. And not put ourselves into dangerous situations.

Being down the street 4 blocks from the police station, I feel much safer then I did on Railroad Avenue. Where anybody could come thru the door then run down the railroad tracks. Yet there are days when I am totally alone here in the building, that I simply have to trust that God will take care of me should anybody try something illegal.

So- let's all be observant to things going on around us and Stay Safe!

All in God's timing

"Whenever God Closes One Door He Always Opens Another, Even Though
Sometimes It's Hell in the Hallway"

This was part of an e-mail that I received. I know with all the unemployment, lay offs and things that are going on in today's world we all need to be reminded that God is still in control. And we need to do our part, but God will see us through!
I don't know who said it originally, but wanted to share it with those of my blogger friends who are having troubles at this time.

Another busy week end.

I would rather have one rose and a kind word
from a friend while I'm here
than a whole truck load when I'm gone.

Someone sent me a whole list of things like this on a
e-mail this week.

I agree, but I don't even have to have the rose,
a kind word and fellowship with a friend is a
treasure.

This evening I am picking up my mother-in-law right
after work and taking her out to see Aunt Katie.
Katie has been diagnosed with liver cancer and given
only 6 weeks here on this earth.

Last week end when I took Jean out on Saturday she wondered
what she could take for Katie, and I told her, "Mom, Katie
doesn't care if you don't bring her anything. A visit from you
is really all she wants." When Jean told Katie about our conversation Katie
looked up from her bed and said, "Your coming to see me, means
much more than anything else. I'm glad you came."

We are optioning to go this evening since I am sure Aunt Katie's immediate
family will be there this week end and I sure don't want to make her too
tired.
Plus I have a Memorial Service to attend tomorrow P.M. And a few groceries
I must find in the morning. As there isn't much in our household to eat
right now.

Bud, went to Chicago today for a truck, and has to go to Tennessee in the morning.
At the moment he is home trying to get most of the laundry done so we will have
clean clothes for next week.

I am hoping that just perhaps I shall be able to have a quiet Sunday to recoup before I need to come back to the office.

Happiness keeps You Sweet,
Trials keep You Strong,
Sorrows keep You Human,
Failures keeps You Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only
God keeps You Going.

Hope everybody has a wonderful week end.

City Deer

Yesterday afternoon, it was almost closing time when someone loudly declared, "There's a deer out there!"

I grabbed my camera and this above is what I saw. City Deer, this your female deer needs to be somewhere other then in the middle of the City in a small bunch of trees. Yet, this is not the first deer we have seen from our back door and dock.

Two years ago we had one run into a vehicle just outside my front window in the middle of the day. And once there was one inside our fence and couldn't find his way out the front gate. I love to see them, but truthfully, the City is no place for them!

As I left to go home I saw a ground hog, I wonder if it was the same one that visited us when I took the photo below. (See him sitting close to the left front tire peering at me, when I took the photo?)

Dreaming of Spring

Today it supposed to be 60 Degrees. Is Spring just around the corner?

We are so ready for Spring to get here!

Will business pick up in the spring? Well, we at least will have all our start ups to send the service guys out on. Plus people will be thinking of turning their air conditioners on, so the maintenance will pick up too.

I HATE THIS TIME OF THE YEAR WHEN THERE IS NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING ON YOUR DESK TO DO. And this is only Monday Morning. Does that mean the whole week will be this slow? IF SO, I will be bored out of my gord long before the week is over.

I sure am glad I have my vacation booked for next month.

Last week I saw a Robin in our front yard out here. Haven't seen any today, even if it very lovely out there.

COME ON SPRING!!!!!!! WE ARE ALL READY!!!

Food and the week end

Godfathers Taco Pizza

This is how our Saturday night started out. We went to friends house for pizza and see the family and enjoy a evening of fun together.

Pizza I WISH it was Monical's Instead of Godfather's.... But then Someone told me
Monical's was too expensive.

Taco Pizza - heart burn city U.S.A. My stomach can only handle 1 1/2 pieces of the taco sauce. Very, very spicy.

Ya, right, So, next week some noon when I want pizza I think I'll go to Monical's on my own and have an individual pleaser. I'll eat the whole thing by myself too!
And I'll have a wonderful salad with it too.

Cooking for one or two --- a very difficult thing for me to do. I grew up in a large family and when you made a Sunday noon meal it meant that you stood and peeled at least 5 pounds of potatoes to be cooked for dinner. The roast or meat was the biggest one you could find. Noodles were cooked by the bag full, etc.

After I got married, I finally learned to cook smaller portions for two or three.
Today, since my husband has gone to Michigan for a vehicle I find myself alone, wondering what I would eat.

Yesterday I had fried Bud a hamburger for lunch. There was a small piece of hamburger left. So I put it in a plastic baggie and froze it. Today I wrapped it in a piece oftin foil and stuck it in the oven after I came home from church. I baked it for a while then made scalloped potatoes. Also cooked some eggs to make deviled eggs for snacks and smiles tonight after church.

Baked Hamburger? Yes, mom used to bake frozen hamburger and occasionally I get hungry for it. Bud & Kim used to call it Amish meatloaf.... But, normally meat loaf has other things in it, and this is pure hamburger. Don't knock it --Try it you might like it. Serve with Ketchup on the side.

So yes, today I cooked for one. And had a very delicious Sunday afternoon meal.

The eggs are deviled. I have always wondered why they always smell up the refrigerator after they are made. I hope they eat all of them at Snacks and smiles, I really don't want to bring any of them home.

There are enough scalloped potatoes left over that I can have a serving the next two days for my lunch. Ya, I won't have to spend any money to go out to eat then. So the Monical's pizza will be post ponied for a week or two. But eventually I will go alone for my Monical's pizza.

Superstitious ?

Superstitious?

Today is Friday the 13th are we superstitious? NO, I am not. Today is going to be a good day. It is Friday and I always have things to do on Friday.
Plus I get two days away from the office and I am really looking forward to getting out of here.

Hope everybody will have a good Friday the 13th and a good week end.

Project Complete---YAAAAA

When I see all these rolledex files with all these cards and know how many there are, I am amazed that we got this project complete in one year.

We hope to God we never loose this computer, and if we do that we have saved all the information so we can restore it. If not we will probably not redo this project if it is ever lost.

And if you ask why? Because it does make your life easier... Yes, it does make our life easier having it on the computer, but if someone would have told me exactly how many of these little cards we typed, I'd have to say "Not again."

There are 21,044 cards and we are adding to these cards weekly!

And to think when I started working there was only one of these triple roledex and one single one. Oh how many of these have I typed before? LOTS!!!!! :)

So, as I add to these cards weekly--- I must remember to save it on my diskettes, so we do not loose this information.

HOWEVER I am GLAD that this project is complete!!!!!

Paco is persistant

Tonight I am trying to do some blogging, e-mailing and facebooking. I have let Paco out of the cage to fly and he keeps coming up wanting to sit on the computer, or on my head. He did this about 7 times in a row so I thought I would use the web cam and see if I could capture it on the cam.

Remembering my sister- Sovilla

1936 - 2005

December 5, 2004 At our Beachy Christmas I managed to snap a picture of my older sister---Sovilla.

Martha, Sovilla and Verna
This photo was taken at Kim & Clays Wedding Oct. 11, 2003
Not very often that we would be able to take a sisters photo like we did that day.

Today if Sovilla were still here on earth with us she would be 73 years old.
Remembering you on your 73rd birthday sis. We miss you.

Christmas time.

To the young lady that you have become.

My lovely daughter and son-in-law - Kim & Clay.

TWENTY NINE YEARS Of Memories, it is hard for me to choose what photos I wanted to use. And a few I wanted to use are not on the computer yet.
Like the Christmas you and Kris got in trouble at Aunt Judys for bouncing down the stairway and making so much noise and you got the lecture from your grandmother.

Thank you Dear One for all these Memories.

HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL 29th BIRTHDAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIM!
Love you bunches and bunches like grapes.

Grandfathers Rocker

Years ago when Mom and Dad's things were being sold I acquired my grandfathers rocker. This was my mother's fathers rocker. And since my mother would have been 94 years old this year, I'm sure this rocker is over 100 years old.

One of my brothers saw it a couple weeks after I had purchased it and wanted to know what I did to it. My answer was "Washed it".

The wood is kinda hard to sit on and the cushions I had on it previously are worn out. So this past Saturday when I was with Kim, she suggested that I might be able to use lawn chair furniture cushions.

The cushions I found and chose can be used with either the plain side or the flowered side. I prefer the dark red side.
The wicker sofa cushion is a bit long for the back, but I do believe I will be able to Verna rig it that I will be very comfortable using this as my chair to sit in to do my needlepoint, watching tv or whatever I choose to do while I am relaxing at home.

And I truly believe I will always leave the flowered side down.
Thanks Kim for the suggestion. It sure beats me making a cushion. And it is comfortable.
