This past week in the midst of going thru some of my things I found this real old wall hanging. I do believe - Bernice gave it to me years and years ago. It's all wrinkly and stained, but I most definitely do not want to forget it's message:

Slow Me Down Lord:
Ease the pounding of my heart by the
quieting of my mind.
Steady my hurried pace with a vision of
the eternal reach of time.
Give me, amid the confusion of the day,
the calmness of the everlasting hills.
Break the tensions of my nerves and
muscles with the soothing musinc of the
singing streams that live in my memory.
Help me to know the magical, restoring
power of sleep.
Teach me the art of taking minute
vacations---of slowing down to look at a
flower, to chat with a friend, to pat a dog, to
read a few lines from a good book.
Slow me down, Lord, and inspire me to
send my roots deep into the soil of life's enduring
values that I may grow toward the stars
of my greater destiny.
unknown.

What a great message! Thanks for sharing! I think we all need to slow down.
I like the part "Teach me to take minute vacations." We could all benefit from taking heed to this message and slowing down and living life with purpose. Thanks for sharing.
Boy did I need to read that this morning. My life has been at a very fast pace lately. I am certainly one who tries to take time to enjoy life and thank God for it, but it's so easy to forget that when you have ten gazzilion things going on. Well, it might not be quite that many. Poor Abigail had to go to a 3 hour orchestra practice yesterday morning and then had to usher for the Wichita symphony last night for 4 hours. What a Saturday!
Sounds like your move might be fun - well, if moves can be fun. I HATE moving furniture/packing up stuff... but it is fun to start over once everything is in the new place. You think?
Better run. Gotta leave for church in 30 minutes and I'm still in my jammies.
Love ya.

Hi Verna, This is a good reminder to slow our pace and to enjoy the Lord and all of the things that he made for us. Thanks for sharing it my friend. And thanks for your faithful comments on my blog. I am glad you enjoyed my poem today.
We have been on several trips lately so I haven't been reading blogs or writing them, but I think we are home for a bit and I will enjoy catching up!
