Yesterday since Bud left for FLorida and I was on my own in the afternoon, I decided that I would go over to Weldon Springs State Park and check out the trails.
I started at the school house and ventured down a path I had not been down yet. It was the gravel road, and I thought it might be interesting.
The first thing I see is this:
Wait, Knotted rope. Now I've watched to many crime scenes. Why is this in the middle of this path?
I
LOOKED AROUND...I was alone...... nobody else around. So I kept going a bit farther.
Oh, this leads to where the maintenance men store old and unused things. Paddle boats and picnic tables.
Then I wondered is this how some of our lives look like...... old discarded things just simply stacked up any which way?
From there I ventured into the path that went into the woods. It wasn't marked as a trail, but you could see that this is what it was.
Then my phone rings....go figure.....Bud tried to call me, but there is not a good reception, so he said he would call later.
(I did not tell him where I was either until later in the evening.)
Oh, no, I will not try and cross here to the other side, I must back track.
Now I knew that the School house trail made a loop, so I went back to the grassy trail that Bud and I had been down part of once before.
I saw the bluebird houses. Some---very few were fixed up like this one.
Most of them looked like this one below. So sad. Where are the blue birds to nest?
From there I ventured across the road toward the lake. Saw a bunch of trees like this one:
and wondered if this was a beavers work. Later I saw a sign that there are two beaver groups here in the lake and the trees at waters edge have netting around them to protect them.
Now this trail appears to be a very well marked one. And I saw other joggers with their dogs or children using it.
I did meet a jogger on my way back to the car. I ask her if the trail went all around the lake. She said yes, it did and one lap around was 2.2 miles....
I did not try it yesterday, but will do it in the near future.
I saw this nice fishing spot across the way.
And one guy was actually trying to catch something.
Two lonely geese.
The lake was nice and calm. There was a boat out there too. And if I remember correctly they can only use oars or a trolling motor.
Now I had been out there almost a hour and a half already, so I headed back to the car. I had my IPad ready to take photos in case I saw something. As I came into the clearing this is what I saw. I didn't even aim. Just picked up my IPad and clicked. I had only seen the two on the right. Not till I got home and out of the sun did I see the two on the left.
Now this was 3:10 P.M. Deer are not normally out at that time of the day. So this was a real treat for me.
I knew the park lay out and they were headed the ampa theater way. So I drove down and walked down, but did not see them. They must have laid down somewhere between where I saw them and here.
