A true happening in the grocery store.

I am told that this is a true story. That was shared on Facebook. Thanks Dorcas for witnessing to this couple. Just maybe it opened their eyes and they will go get jobs if they are able!

Here is a strange story for you!! Never in all my life!! I don't know whether to laugh or cry! I went to pick up some groceries for the rest of the week and when I got in the checkout line I ended up behind a young couple with cart PILED high. As I watched them unload steak, seafood and other high end meats and veggies and fruit and snacks (did I mention snacks??!) I marveled at what their monthly budget must entail. At first I thought this must be a wealthy up and coming family but as I began chatting with them I soon realized not all was as I first surmised... Not only did the package not match but they began telling me about how great it is to "lay aside all responsibilities" and just kick back in life. When the bill totaled $520 and they swiped their food stamp debit card the lady looked at me and asked "don't you just love our president?" I had to swallow really hard. Now I don't begrudge helping and feeding the poor and destitute... I have been known to slip some $$ to someone who is obviously down and out but this seemed a little over the top. She then asked if I enjoyed it as well... Somewhere my face must have betrayed me because she asked me what was wrong. I kindly told her that I have never used food stamps so I am definitely not an expert on the matter. She promptly wondered if I "came from money"? I assured her I didn't. She asked how much my income is and though that was a bit much info for a grocery line, I told her. "oh h***!" she cried! "that's not sh**! You can't make it on that! Just you and your husband, right?" I thought she was gonna hyperventilate when I told her I have 5 kids, one recently married. "lady, you HAVE to go get some help!" she almost whimpered. I could tell this was painful for her to think about. I gently told her that though thick and thin we have somehow managed to feed our family well and when the $$ are all that is all you spend. At this point I seriously feared for her health! She actually grabbed on to her husband for support as they walked out. I paid my bill and lo and behold they were waiting for me when I came out. The lady nervously extended her hand and shoved a $10 bill in my hand. "you are just such a kind woman and We just feel really sorry for you and don't want to offend you since you work for your money and since we get $$$$ a week we want to give you this. I smiled and thanked them. There was nothing else to do. She went on "this is all the fault of the businesses! They just make all this money and won't share with the rest of us!" by that time I figured the fat was already in the fire and I gently but firmly and concisely told her I had once been a business owner and how it actually works. There are no "free rides" and business owners often risk everything they own to start a business and bring it to profitability. Somewhere toward the end I think something started to click with her. Looking me straight in the eye she asked, "are you telling me that since you work you are actually helping pay for my groceries?" (I had NOT-said that!) as I explained to her how that works I saw her looking at my $57 worth of simple staple foods in my cart and she literally started shaking. She looked at her silent husband and asked, "did you know this??" I took that opportune moment to speak a blessing over them and I gave her a hug and left. As I drove out I saw them standing with the trunk of their car open... Just looking at those groceries...

Blue teeth

I did not grab my iPad and take a photo. I was too upset that he got ahold of Kenleys markers. But this little tyke came around the corner giving me a smile like this ....except that he had a blue marker and it was in his mouth and he had blue drool and blue teeth.

Now this grandma was very upset. I knew he was filling his pants and that is why he had dodged into the other room. So I first had to deal with that. Picked up all the markers so it would not happen again and upstairs we went.
He does not like to have his mouth washed out with a wash rag and really didn't want to brush his teeth either. But we were able to illuminate the blue from his his mouth and teeth. After he was all cleaned up I googled the markers and found that they are not toxic. So why didn't I grab that camera and get a photo. And no I don't want to let him do it again just to get a photo!

He sure does keep grandma on her toes!

Finding old friends

Sometimes we find friends from our past. Just recently I found a girl that her and I Had done a lot of things together when we were in our teens. Neither one of us would have recognized each other had we met on the street. Guess we all change as we age.

I don't know who took this photo, but I love it.
