Paco

This evening when I got home from work, since Bud was out of town and I had a great lunch at Panara Bread I thought I would just eat a bit of popcorn and work on photos.
Since I need to take all the photos off the old computer before we get rid of it.

I opened Paco's cage door since he loves to be outside and stretch his wings a bit.

Well this is what happens when you are holding a bowl of popcorn and his door is open. Had to use my phone to get this photo. He jumped right on over and sat on the edge of the bowl. Yep, he took a bite or two, but when I snapped the photo he took off so I put some in his food bowl and he too enjoyed popcorn.

He won't let me pet him yet, but am sure that eventually he will come around and let me pet him.

Will we ever get done?

This is the Rolodex we still have to finish putting on the computer.

This is how many we have done from this Rolodex.

WILL WE EVER GET DONE?
I have been typing on this all morning and my fingers are sore, and I have only gotten 117 done today. So, it will definitely not be done today. I don't think I'll even get done with the M's today in this Out of Town information.

This is the type of information we have to type:
JOB:1752 N. Market
Location: Monticello
For: The Fitness Center
WO#23954
Date Installed: 3/10/05
What was installed: 2-TUD100C972K4 (40546111G) & (4054JD91G); 2-TXC061 (4312J9K5G) & (4312J5C5G); 2-TTA083C400 (4451J8T2F) & (43455782F); TUE100A948L3 ( 4433Y8G1G); TXC048; TTA048C400

It is all these numbers---Model and Serial #'s that make this typing a challenge.
But after we get it all on excel it will be much, much easier to find then in these Rolodex files. (Someone or a lot of someones who have filed in these files, must not know their abc's since they are not filed correctly.) (One card out of order -allows the next person filing to file their information incorrectly.)
But with it being on Excel we can do a search and find and can find it.

SOMEDAY we will get them all on the computer. Until then, we keep typing whenever we get a free moment.

What happened here?

What happened here? It is 20 degrees outside and the wind is blowing terribly.

This will teach me to have my car keys in my coat pocket until I get totally done and everything is in the house.

I have my hands full of the last of the bags, click the lock and push the door shut with my knee.

OH, WAIT A MINUTE! You can't move---- Your hood string is caught in the closed door, and both front and back doors are locked.

And the keys are in the house.......oh my.... Glad it's only the outer coat that is caught. There is nobody home but me and it is freezing cold out here.

Besides, since I was home alone today I chose to wear a sweater type shirt only plus my coat when I went to Walmart.

So YEP I had to shed my coat and go to the house for keys to get my coat out of the car door. I'm glad I didn't have far to go to get my keys to resolve the matter. And I am truly glad it was only the coat. I might have given my neighbors a free show had it been more then the coat string that got caught.

Go ahead, laugh, it's funny now, but at the time I didn't think it was very funny at all.

I'm Cold and My Eyes Burn

I'm cold and My eyes are burning......

NO HEAT? YOU SAY? NO, NONE HERE THIS MORNING.

Funny---- this is a heating and air conditioning firm. Where is the heat?

Oh, they turned it off? Why didn't they warn us they were going to turn the heat off this morning.

My sweater was at home, because I wore it home last night.

No sweat shirts here at the office. Thank You, Bud for bringing me my NY sweat shirt.

He laughed when he came in- Here I am sitting at my desk trying to do payroll with my coat on.

So why the no Heat? We got a new furnace this morning. A more efficient one, which is to save us money.

The two Terry's that worked on it this morning said it should be warm in here shortly. I hope so, my fingers hurt when I get cold.

But, my eyes are still burning......Oh, that comes from the paint fumes over by Julie's desk. They finally removed the drinking fountain that leaked and patched the wall, Now, he had to paint that one wall, and the fumes are getting to my eyes.

I guess I should be grateful they did it today when it is only 18 degrees outside and not when it was way below zero.

I am so glad to day is Friday. Can I go home early?

A Tribute to Mother

Today- Feb. 20, 2009 Mother would have been 94 today.
It does not seem possible that it has been almost 32 years that Mother went home to be with Jesus.

The other day I was thinking about all the things Mother taught us in our life time.
And there being 9 of us I'm sure the others learned things I did not learn.

However, here are a few things I am grateful that Mother taught me.

1. How to use a sewing machine and sew. (Even tho she laughed at me when I put a collar on upside down).

2. Quilting - including how to put it in frame, take it out and bind it.

3. How to put a binding on and how to make the bias tape be one continuous piece.

4. Patience---even when all the sewing I was doing was carpet rags. Do them correctly the first time.

5. Embroidery by hand, (I never really ask her to teach me how she did it on the sewing machine. Now I wish I had.

6. How to bake cake and cookies. (But you never taught me how to make pies). Therefore, I buy my pies I don't bake them.

7. How to iron even if I didn't really like doing it. ---- ya for not having to do all those bushels and bushels of pants and shirts that we used to have to do. (Sorry Brothers - I really never liked to iron that much after doing all your work clothes). Thank goodness for knits and no iron now.

8. To never be angry at someone and go to bed angry at them.

9. If a job is worth doing, it is worth doing correctly the first time.

10. She taught me how to pick strawberries, and prepare things for the freezer, so we would have food in the winter months.

11. How to make vegetable soup from scratch and freeze it.

12. How to butch a chicken and not cut the green gall- so the meat would not be wasted. (She always cut their heads off tho.) I would really have to put my whole heart into doing all of it alone.

13. How to make grape juice and tomato juice and can it.

14. She taught me how to do bead work, tho I never tackled the horse and buggy that she made.

15. It is more blessed to give then to receive.

So today, I want to Say- Happy Birthday Mom, thank you for all you did for me in the first 28 years of my life and all that you were able to teach me. A lot I am sure I don't remember as I sit trying to think of things. I'll probably remember them one by one later.

You and Elizabeth Hill (who worked at our eye doctor's for years) were born the same day and the same year. Elizabeth and her daughter, Sharon (Who I stayed with when I first came to town) are both gone now too. Hope You and Elizabeth are celebrating up there together again.

Pray for Logan Perkins

Pray for MeWe participate in "Pray for Me... Pray for Others" on the Riggs Family Blog. Check out their blog to add your prayer request. Join a community of friends who care about you, and hope you will care about them.

Today 6 month old Logan Perkins , son of Krirsten & Rob Perkins, is having spinal surgery in St. Louis, Mo. Rob is our service manager here at Tica, Inc. where I am employed.

Logan was born prematurely, isn't growing as much as they desire him to grow. Has a stomach feeding tube, and the doctors say this surgery is needed to help him develop properly.

Please join me today in prayer for this family.

Thank you.

Update: 2-20-09
His father who came back to work this morning stated that they cut this little fellow with a 2" slit at the back of his neck, and pulled bone away from the spinal cord opening it up so that it was not as restricted, so more spinal fluid would go thru. And that the doctors felt that the surgery was a success!!! YAAA Thank You Jesus.

A New Week Ahead

With a new week ahead I also want to drink more while at work.

No, NOTHING STRONG AND NO BOOZE. JUST H2o.

Saturday when I made Ice for the week I made extra ice so that I would have enough ice to fill my to go cup to take to work.

Now there are those who are making fun of my to go mug, that I have sitting on the corner of my desk. They think this is the biggest mug they have ever seen.

But at least the water should be cold for all day. I don't mind drinking water instead of soda pop, but I do want it to be ice cold. So for today at least, I am not putting Mt. Dew, Pepsi or other soda into my system. It is all WATER.

Made It.

Well, made it home on Tuesday afternoon (shortly after 12) before I fell asleep.

Made it to bed and slept for 4 hours straight. Up for a bit of dinner (which I had my husband get for me). Then back to bed for another 8 hours.

Made it back into the chiropractor's office on Wednesday evening and ask him to put it back in place to stay.

Finally made it to the point that I can turn my head in both directions again and not cringe in pain doing so.

Made it through the ordeal of my father-in-law having another seizure and spending 4 hours on Thursday morning in the hospital with them.

Made it through Friday with only one salesman working, and accomplished getting much more work done since they were not there to interrupt things.

Made it through the two phone calls from Florida from my big- boss.

Made it locking up the office and to the car without the last minute customer walking in for filters at 4:28pm.
(I do wonder who the lady was that waited to turn into our lot while I was leaving). The doors were locked and alarm turned on. I was out of there. I didn't recognize her so I did not stop to find out.

Emptied my in basket this p.m. and then realized there is no mail on Monday, so perhaps it will stay empty for a day. May make it into Tuesday before there is a lot of work piled up on my desk to do again.

Yes, I made it, still among the living, but with tons of things that I need to be doing here at home tomorrow.
Don't know if my strength will hold out or not, but will take things one step at a time since I have also been drafted to do my mother-in-law's grocery shopping, picking up meds and whatever else she may have that needs to be done in the morning.

SO, now I will see if I can make it to bed without falling asleep sitting straight up in this chair.

Sleep

I honestly need to go home and sleep. I have had a horrible head ache and pain in my upper shoulders earlier this morning. So I ended up across the street at the Chiropractor's office for him to put my neck and upper back back in place. It has been years and years since I have felt like this and I hope one treatment will do the trick, but if not will be back in tomorrow to let him work on it again.

Lesson to be learned is "Never make yourself so tired that you feel as tho you can't function." And on Sunday night I was so exhausted that I couldn't see straight. I was even seeing double before I got home to stay that night.

Now all I want to do is sleep. Since I didn't sleep the best last night I sure am tired today.

It has been years and years since I have felt this bad, and I sincerely hope it will be years and years before I ever feel this way again.

Except for the phones I sure haven't done anything today. And I want to say "Who cares?" I sure don't!

The only thing I did at curves this morning was ride the bike. And that I only did for 20 minutes. Figured if I at least worked my legs it might help with my leg cramps a bit.

Bla Monday

Today this is what My bones and muscles feel like...... they done had it.

And this is what I would like to do:

Just plain sit and stare out into space and be like the red hat ladies and not care what people think, or go on a walk with friends, because "Every step with friends echos with happiness."
This lady and photo sit on top of my computer on the end of my desk, reminding me daily that a walk in the woods or with friends would be wonderful.

You got WHAT?

Want a Cold drink of soda or water and you go to the refrigerator and this is what you find?

EMPTY or 3/4 empty and nobody has bothered to fill it!

Not having a ice maker in the refrigerator that keeps us in ice, and living in an apartment, so none can be installed in the refrigerator.

Well, I Simply had to take matters into my own hands.

Especially when I saw the advertisement for this:

Yes, a portable Ice Machine.

Taking my chances I stepped out in faith and ordered one on line. Had it delivered to the office, so Bud wouldn't know I ordered it.

YEP :) gave it to him as a Christmas Present.

Didn't know how it would be accepted, But he really likes it.
Once a week or every other week, One gallon of water will make two bags of ice. And it normally lasts him a while.

He started it this afternoon and left it for me to finish when he went to bed early, but, I find that we have all the ice we need now. And if we do run out all we have to do is fill it up and wait about 7-12 minutes and we have 12 cubes ready for use.

I'm waiting till next summer when I hear one of our friends say, "Come to our house for a cook out and bring the ice machine too."

Probably not the most requested or thought of item for a Christmas gift, but thought it would be a useful item and not one that just sat on the shelf or hung in the closet and was never used.

So, You got WHAT?????? ICE, WE GOT ICE!!!!!!
