Must it end?

Must this wonderful week end come to a end?

Monday morning, Back to work we go. Must the fun from the week end come to a end?

Friday, I was privileged to go to Bloomington (1 hour away) to accompany my daughter, son-in-law and his mother to go see the sonogram.

No, we do not know if our up coming grandchild is a boy or girl. We turned our heads and closed our eyes so that it will be a surprise. They didn't even log it on the report they sent to the doctor, so the doctor will not be able to accidentally let it slip.

Saturday, I headed out the other direction (1 hour) to Arthur. Stopped at the Mennonite Relief sale and had lunch with 3 of my brothers and their wives.
The auction was playing havoc with my ears so I left there and cut down the country roads stopping at the Amish store and then on to visit a double first cousin.

Ida was thrilled that I stopped to see her. It never ceases to amaze me anytime I go she will speak Pennsylvania dutch to me and I will answer her in English.
Only when Kim was younger and with us I would remind them that she couldn't understand the Pennsylvania dutch and would they please speak English so that she too could understand what was being said.

From there I stopped by my nieces house to change clothes before going to the Reunion at Yoder's. Seeing people from my childhood days and hearing all the good stories that others were telling.
It was a great evening! But, very late when I got to bed.
I am not a very good night time driver. I simply detest driving in the dark. So I stayed on the road that is less traveled so I wouldn't have so many head lights coming at me.

Sunday - Our church had services in Fairview Park. It was down right chilly.
I ended up going to the car and getting a blanket for friends of mine who were older so that they could put it over their laps and legs and stay warmer.
Didn't seem as tho anyone really stayed long after the potluck. Everybody wanted to get in where it was warmer.

Who would have thought that August has cooler temperatures?

But this morning it is back to work.......yuck...yuck... I did not want this wonderful week end to end. Lots and lots of good food and good fellowship with family and friends.

Feast or Famine.
The heating and air conditioning business is either feast or famine.

You are either busy or not busy.
I would much rather be busy then bored out of my mind!

We need some really hot weather or some really cold weather.  Being busy is at least a little more of Job security.

At 10:15 this morning there is simply nothing on my desk to do.  I know I should enjoy it, but I HATE it.  I am sitting here thinking of all the things I could be doing, yet am stuck here to answer the phones whenever it rings.

Tomorrow, I am leaving this place at noon, and going to Bloomington to see my grand-baby who will be here among us in January 2010.

Saturday there is the Mennonite Relief Sale in Arthur and friends and relatives from other states are coming home for it. So we will be able to gather for some fun and fellowship.

Sunday, our church is having Church at Fairview Park.  They started this 3 years ago, and everybody seems to love it.  Then there will be a potluck in the afternoon.

So, it appears as tho my next few days will be extremely busy. So perhaps I should just sit hear and rest so I have lots of energy the next three days. :)

Experiment

Experiments.....  I normally stick to the road well paved.
But If I am reading the correctly I can post to my blog from my e-mail so guess I will give it a try.

Wind damage.

The other afternoon, out of the blue, we got one heck of a storm and wind. Lots and lots of wind. (Someone in our household) didn't put the umbrella down when he went inside, and the wind picked up table/umbrella and all and turned it upside down in our courtyard. Of Course the umbrella got caught on my Shepard's hook. Now I want to say "MY Roof's got a hole in it and I might drown." Oh, my I guess it is my umbrella doesn't look nearly as nice as it did when I redid the cover last year.
Plus this time it broke a spoke let alone tearing the huge hole in it. So it is beyond repair. (Makes me sad) I worked so hard on that project when the other cover needed replacing. Now, it looks like crap.

NOW:

THEN:

Sigh, ......so I guess when the weather starts to get cold and I would normally bring it in for the winter, I shall have to carry it down to the dumpster and stash it to it's grave.

Cassie's Baby Shower

Saturday afternoon I went to Sullivan to Cassie's Baby Shower.

Yes, I made this quilt, but not recently. I have done a number of them in the past so I simply chose one from my current collection.

I CAN SAY NO

WOW! I am so Proud and pleased with myself.... I actually told someone NO today.

It seems like people think I can be wonder women when it comes to fixing things.
Well, Today I had to say NO I DON'T WANT TO TRY IT.

The lady I finished the table cloth for called and wanted to know if I could mend some doilies that her mother had made (Over 60 years ago).
After all the problems I had with the table cloth and how stressed I was when I did this:

Stressed to no end. And to try and fix something that is that old and mend it right in the middle of it, well I think her best bet would be to just take a needle and thread and stitch up any hole in her doilies.

SO, YES, I HAVE LEARNED TO SAY NO.

Normally there isn't a whole lot that I won't tackle, but I have fixed a Afghan,
and it is terribly hard to fix something that is that old. Plus trying to figure out what the stitch is. Then on doilies they are usually round and every round is a totally different stitch. SO YES, I AM PLEASED WITH MYSELF. I ACTUALLY SAID "NO".

A customers chuckle.

Last Friday afternoon as I was busy at my desk, trying my best to get the time cards balanced and put on the work orders one of the salesmen had a customer who on his way out of the office stopped in front of my desk and ask, "Wanta hear a chuckle?"

Well, Do I have a choice ? ?? Seems like he is going to tell me anyway. So as not to be rude, I said, "Sure", as I stopped what I was doing and gave him my full attention.

This is his story:

You know that normally it is you Mom's who get embarrassed by things that your kids say. Normally they say things so odd and weird and just simply embarrass us to death.

I nodded my head as he continued,

Yesterday morning he said I was at Bob Evans with my brother for breakfast. There was a table close by with grandma, father and son eating breakfast. And real loudly the son said, "Dad this is real cool" The waitress had just set his plate of pancakes in front of him.

Dad said, "It's not cool in here, see the fan's aren't even going."
SON: "No dad, these pancakes are real cool!"
Dad: "How's that?"
IN A VERY, VERY LOUD VOICE The son replies "THEY AREN'T BURNT LIKE YOURS WERE YESTERDAY."

The grandmother spewed coffee from her mouth, as she started laughing. The Dad turned red, and every customer in the place turned to look at them. The waitresses disappeared into the kitchen.

He stated that his brother was laughing so hard he had to go on outside. But that he looked at the dad and said , "Sir, I think you got a keeper."

The father/dad's reply was, "IF,he lives to grow up."
The son kinda kept his head down and continued to eat his pancakes.

Out of the mouths of babes. They will always tell us the truth even if it sometimes embarrasses us.

He stated that when he got outside his brother was still laughing.

And as he left my desk and went out the door he too was still laughing.

Sometimes we all need a laugh. Even in the midst of our day when we are rushing to finish the job at hand so that we had our desk clear for week end.

She had no idea.

As she came thru the door at Curves earlier then normal, because employee on duty told her she had to be at a meeting and all the other girls were not able to work, she had no idea as she came in throwing her hands in the air saying SURPRISE - that actually the surprise was on her.

She turned and saw that it was set up for a party, yet she had no idea that the party was for her.

A party for the future Grandmother.

These are some of the ladies who organized this event, planned, plotted and figured out ways to get her here for the party since the early morning group normally never sees Jody.

Jody - the look on your face was priceless when you realized why you were ask to come in early this morning.

Feelings

This week has been a bit like this tree.
Lopsided.... one arm heavier then the other.
One carrying more of the load then the other.

For a number of weeks I have been dealing with a constant head ache. But earlier this week when my one arm didn't seem to want to function the way I wanted it to I decided it was time to take action and see what I needed to do.

So, I picked up my phone and called my local chiropractor. The one who dealt with all my whip lashes from the past. My question was "Can or will the whip lashes I suffered years ago, rear their little bottoms up and cause problems in my older years?" Answer, "You betcha they can."

So we decided it might be best to do a couple of x-rays and see if that was what was causing my discomfort. He wasn't going to adjust the neck and shoulders till he got the x-ray back, but then noticed that my left arm was asleep..... I half begged him to at least take care of my head ache, and we would deal with the rest of the stuff later.

YEA, my head aches are gone. Speaking to him this morning he stated that the neck actually looked much better then he expected it would for a person with my age (SHAME ON HIM) I AM NOT OLD! Just a tad older then I was when I injured my neck years ago.

It is not my neck causing the problems. It is lower then my neck. (OH, Yes, the part of the back that hinges with the use of your arms when you sit and type, work on the computer or sew. And most of you know I can't sit down in the evening and just sit and watch tv, I have to have plastic canvas, crocheting or something in my hands to keep myself busy. I spend hours upon end on the computer here at work and at home, and also spend hours sewing at the sewing machine. Especially when I get started sewing stockings for our troops.

So when I look at the photo of this tree My left arm kinda feels like the right branch coming off this tree, HEAVY, not wanting to be used like the other one.
Will probably have to do lower x-rays to see what is going on between my shoulders and arms. But, in the mean time, I sure am grateful that my head ache has taken a break.

I kinda had forgotten what it was like to have a head ache. When I had all the whip lashes years ago, I didn't know what it was like not to have one. So---go away head aches, so that I can think straight and not feel like I have to force myself to work every day.

The past two days I have tried real hard not to irate my left shoulder and arm. And going into the week end, it may be hard for me not to sit and sew. And not spend as much time on the computer or at least watch it how I sit when I am on the computer.

Nothing major planned for the week end. Bud is to leave on Sunday morning to take the guys to the Ozarks for their yearly adventure. So, Sunday-Monday-and Tuesday I know I at least will not have to do much cooking. And if we get the cleaning done on Friday night and Saturday, I really should be able to have a peaceful three days.
So STAY AWAY HEADACHE and let me enjoy this upcoming week end.

Week end fun and Moon Flowers

Saturday Bud and I, met Pat and Donna and Kim and Clay in Springfield.
The 6 of us had a lovely dinner at Red Lobster. I'm sure Donna and I were both ready to brain our husbands. They had not seen each other for a number of years, and are always cutting up when they get together. They were sitting across from each other at the dinner and I simply had to shake my head. Until they wanted to do something I totally found disgusting and I looked at my husband and said. "Don't You dare do that!" And I know he knew I meant it from the tone in my voice.
Kim and Clay went home later in the evening, but the rest of us went to Lincoln's Museum on Sunday before we headed back home.
It sure was good to see everybody again.

Our Moon Flowers..... I can almost smell it now. The aroma is so sweet!

Believe it or not, this corner only has two plants in it. They are taller then the fence and over flowing to the other side. Last night we had eight flowers total.
I love these flowers. They always remind me of my father, and how one year we had a plant that had over 50 flowers on it one night.
And with the flowers only blooming one night then dying, that is amazing.
We still have lots of buds so who knows how many we will have in the evenings to come.
