Busy week, new shelves for new home

This past week has been an extremely busy one. The weather turned hot and so did the phones.....oh, wait, they weren't hot, just the people who were on the other end of all those 225 no cooling call we took on Monday. Oh, and on Tuesday there were about a 100 more.

After not being busy for weeks upon end. We now get to work our fannies off...:)
Today there are still 50-75 people who are on the list that did not want to pay the extra money and have the service men come and fix their air conditioners at overtime.

I was so glad to walk out on Friday p.m. and know that I didn't have to listen to anybody screaming at me about why we haven't been there yet to fix their air conditioner. Or go over to the service department and page thru all the calls to see where they were on the list.
The oldest calls in are on the top - so they will be the first out to the service men.

Saturday morning Bud and I went to Menards and purchased the supplies to put up shelves in our new storage shed. After a few minor problems this is what we had:

Two shelves along the back wall with a closet rod under them.
It did not take me long to fill those shelves with my sewing supplies:

and yep, we got the closet rod to close to the floor our coats touch the floor......but I am in no mood to go try and move it up a bit. It will work as is for now.
I really wanted to totally finish cleaning out the apartment this week end, but part of it goes to Kim's and they are out of town this week end. Plus after I do get all the odds and ends out, I will have to clean the place. In the morning we plan on getting the last few things left. Put the dvd cabinets in the back of the truck. Move the plastic drawers...to our other storage if they are there since it is a holiday, if not put them in our shed till I can take them out to the other storage shed.
We went to the laundromat and did our overload of laundry. 4-double/triple loads.... but at least everything is clean now.(Oh, that is all but the drapes that I brought over for the patio door to help keep the sun/heat out.
It is very hot and humid here this week end. I am wondering how many hours Mr.Bills the serviceman on call is having to work this week end. And how many calls he will have on Tuesday that people didn't want to pay overtime rates so they will wait. We were already on Wed or Thursday when we left the office on Friday.
Guess you could say "Job security".....when we get this busy.......
One thing it has taught me..... I do not want to keep up this pace in my life too many more years.
People have and are very impatient, yet not willing to pay for overtime rates in order for them to be cooler in the comforts of their own home.
We try to encourage people to have their units checked before it gets hot. To turn them on and try them before they want to actually use them. So why is it that on our very first HOT DAY OF THE SEASON...there are a lot of phone calls with those who REFUSE to turn them on until they have been checked?
My answer to them was, "Turn it on---try it and if it doesn't work then we will get there as soon as we can". I even talked one little old lady how to turn it on, one step at a time.
So hope everybody out there is having a great week end.

Disaster strikes and OUCH

The above site is not a good one! Especially if you cannot see with out them.
Last night I was devastated. I was out with the church girls for dinner at MI JALEPENO up across from the mall. As I was waiting there for the others to get there, I thought I would clean my glasses. Now for those of you who don't know. I can't see without my glasses...Oh, I can see to walk, but not to drive or even a phone number without them. So when Michelle got there I ask---"Are my glasses cracked?" Pointing to my nose piece. Yes it was cracked. OH, BOY WHERE ARE MY PRESCRIPTION SUN GLASSES?

I spoke to Bud on the phone and he told me that I needed to go across the street to Lens Crafters Immediately.....But they are open till 9 p.m. so since it was only 6 I decided to eat with the girls then go over.

No way do they have a frame that these lenses will fit it. First she told me I would have to have my eyes examined. Until she looked up when I got them, and said I was still okay on the prescription. Upon researching what my lenses have in them and finally finding a frame that I kinda like that feels good on my face.(After all, I can't tell how it looks for sure, as I can't really see it clearly. I have to take her word for it).
She then informed me that it would take up to 10 days to get my glasses because of what I have to have.
OH NO You mean I have to wear these sunglasses for 10 days, and they make me half dizzy.
She then told me that for this very purpose I really should have a back up pair, and if I got a back up pair now without the anti glare stuff in them they could get them quicker. They had that prescription in stock --- HOWEVER---their machine was down. They are hoping to get it back up today. But if the part doesn't come in she would personally take my glasses to a neighboring store (40 miles away) and get them to put the lenses in my glasses.

And if I wanted I could try and glue my current ones back together.
GLUE? BUT HOW - I CAN'T SEE IF I TAKE THEM OFF.

She also told me to use Nail glue.
This is where my friend Michell comes in:

She knew I had broken them, text me wanting to know if I got them fixed. Also had been at the mall after dinner. So I called her telling her what I knew.... She went to KMART got the:

And met me at my house and between her and Bud they glued my glasses back together.
In the mean while, I looked and felt like a total dork because I was wearing my sunglasses at 9 p.m and it was dark outside....Only a little bit darker for me since I was wearing sunglasses.
They make me 1/2 loopy in the dark, and I really didn't want to wear them all day at work today. But at least I could see a lot better then without any glasses.
They left them on the kitchen table and added more glue gently on the outside. At this point, we still did not know if it would work.
Very gently this morning I was able to place them on my face.....Praise the Lord the Nail Glue is still holding them together and I can see.
Now hopefully they will get my back up pair to me late this pm. and my good pair as soon as possible.
Disaster strikes when I can't see and OUCH on my pocketbook.
I am grateful that I do have a little help from the health insurance plan I am on. I am getting two pair of glasses for the price that one would cost me without insurance.
HOWEVER---spending another $500. right now was not what I wanted to do at this time.
NOT being able to see Stinks!!!!!
Thanks Michelle and to Nail Glue for helping me in this disaster.

His sense of humor.

His Sense of humor:

On Sunday Noon When I came home from church this is what I find:

Here he is right inside the door. Sitting on a Trane lawn chair that I won from work a year ago.
With the magnifying glass held up to his eye..... Trying to show me that he couldn't see the TV.
HA.Ha. He could have moved his chair closer....

He got my small TV from the sewing room hooked up in the living room so that he could watch TV... The big TV and the two leather recliners were setting off to the side ready to go to their new home. (Not ours).
When I had brought the small TV to the living room from the sewing room the other night he had ask me if it was a wanta be...or someones camera? And I laughed, telling him to deal with it.
Just found out that they are going to deliver or 8 x 12 storage shed this noon. So my next step will be moving the clothes and kitchen stuff, then dealing with what is left. Having people pick up the beds, and the rest of the furniture what little is left. We were able to move the 3 pieces of heirloom furniture to the storage shed we rented out on the north end of town on Saturday afternoon before it started to rain.
Next week Mr. C goes to California with a car for a lawyer here in town. Their daughter is moving out there for a while and they don't want her driving that far. So Bud will take her car out and fly home. Tomorrow he goes to Michigan with a vehicle, and Thursday he takes the cops to St. Louis to the game. So, he is being kept busy on the road. (And that's just fine with me, keeps him busy and I won't have to argue with him where and how I want to arrange things.) Sometimes it is just easier to do it, then explain to him why I did what I did and how I did it, And face it NORMALLY I can get things to work the way they should.
After all, when we first met and got married, I lived in a one room efficiency and believe it or not I had more stuff then I do now.
Some of the ladies at church, and yes, my own daughter don't seem to think it will work, and that I can do it, but there may be a few Verna Rigged ideas floating around in my mind that just make make things a bit easier. Stay tuned for more info and fun filled days at the Coleman residence.

Work in progress

Oh, look -- here comes my new home.
Mr. C assessing his future home.

From across the street.
Now the work begins.....Will I be able to do it?
Well, I need that shed next to the trailer so that I can use it to put my sewing stuff in so I don't have to go out to the other shed to get it all the time.
And I do have until the end of June to get out of the apartment. So I shouldn't feel rushed in moving things.

Mother's Day Week End

My Mother's Day week end started on Friday night when Kim and Kenley and her friend Kimberly came from Normal to enjoy my Mother/Daughter banquet at our church.
They stopped by our apartment for a few moments before we had to head for the church.
Kenley got to eat her cereal before we headed out.

Grandpa got to see and hold her for a second.

Our friend who works at the diner wanted to see her so Amy came by to spend a little time with us.

When we got to the church my great niece Victoria, my niece Rachel, Kim's Mother-in-law Cheryl joined us.
Victoria had some snuggle time with Kenley.

Rachel enjoyed her snuggle time with Kenley.

Kimberly was enjoying her snuggle time (at least for the moment).

Wait, that didn't last long. It is loud in there, and it is close to bedtime for the little one.
Then it all broke loose. She let us all know what she thought of it.

Mommy was a bit frustrated, and she didn't quiet down till after it was all over, and we had her in a clean diaper, and in her p.j.s in the car seat ready to go home.
Mommy told me later she slept all the way home, and all night long.
We did not get a group photo this year. NOTE TO SELF: Get that photo first thing next year.

Saturday night when I went out to see Anita Renfroe concert.

It was at a church and a first come first serve on seating. So I was 6 pews from the front on the end of the bench. She put on one great concert.
Sunday Morning I went to Church and Sunday school then headed for Normal to spend the after noon with:
My lovely daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law.

Kenley was privileged to spend Mother's Day with her mother and both of her grandmas.
After a wonderful lunch we all went for a walk. It was a beautiful afternoon.

And Kenley enjoyed her wonderful nap.

Bud did not go with me to Normal. He was on his way to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to deliver a car. So yesterday he text me this from his hotel room view:

I told him to enjoy it, because today he is on his way back to Illinois.
I had a Wonderful Mother's Day.
Thanks Tom, Cheryl, Kim, Clay, and Kenley for sharing my Mother's Day with me.

Kenley time on Saturday

Friday night I headed to Normal to spend the night with my daughter and family,
Original plans were that Kim and Clay would go out to eat, but they decided to stay home instead.

Then on Saturday I was there to care for Kenley so that Mommy could:

Wash and clean windows , window blinds and re pot plants.

Dad had some yard work to do:

Here are a few things Grandma and Kenley were doing throughout the day:
Our first grandma/Kenley story time.

Ready for our walk... She loved this. Never heard a peep out of her until we got back inside the house.
We even bent down - very carefully and picked our first dandelion for Mommy.

All in all Grandma and Kenley had a very good day.
