Last night I was devastated. I was out with the church girls for dinner at MI JALEPENO up across from the mall. As I was waiting there for the others to get there, I thought I would clean my glasses. Now for those of you who don't know. I can't see without my glasses...Oh, I can see to walk, but not to drive or even a phone number without them. So when Michelle got there I ask---"Are my glasses cracked?" Pointing to my nose piece. Yes it was cracked. OH, BOY WHERE ARE MY PRESCRIPTION SUN GLASSES?
I spoke to Bud on the phone and he told me that I needed to go across the street to Lens Crafters Immediately.....But they are open till 9 p.m. so since it was only 6 I decided to eat with the girls then go over.
No way do they have a frame that these lenses will fit it. First she told me I would have to have my eyes examined. Until she looked up when I got them, and said I was still okay on the prescription. Upon researching what my lenses have in them and finally finding a frame that I kinda like that feels good on my face.(After all, I can't tell how it looks for sure, as I can't really see it clearly. I have to take her word for it).
She then informed me that it would take up to 10 days to get my glasses because of what I have to have.
OH NO You mean I have to wear these sunglasses for 10 days, and they make me half dizzy.
She then told me that for this very purpose I really should have a back up pair, and if I got a back up pair now without the anti glare stuff in them they could get them quicker. They had that prescription in stock --- HOWEVER---their machine was down. They are hoping to get it back up today. But if the part doesn't come in she would personally take my glasses to a neighboring store (40 miles away) and get them to put the lenses in my glasses.
And if I wanted I could try and glue my current ones back together.
GLUE? BUT HOW - I CAN'T SEE IF I TAKE THEM OFF.
She also told me to use Nail glue.
This is where my friend Michell comes in:

In the mean while, I looked and felt like a total dork because I was wearing my sunglasses at 9 p.m and it was dark outside....Only a little bit darker for me since I was wearing sunglasses.
They make me 1/2 loopy in the dark, and I really didn't want to wear them all day at work today. But at least I could see a lot better then without any glasses.
They left them on the kitchen table and added more glue gently on the outside. At this point, we still did not know if it would work.
Now hopefully they will get my back up pair to me late this pm. and my good pair as soon as possible.
Disaster strikes when I can't see and OUCH on my pocketbook.
I am grateful that I do have a little help from the health insurance plan I am on. I am getting two pair of glasses for the price that one would cost me without insurance.
HOWEVER---spending another $500. right now was not what I wanted to do at this time.
NOT being able to see Stinks!!!!!
Thanks Michelle and to Nail Glue for helping me in this disaster.

Oh my, Verna! You are so funny! I am not totally blind, but I always have a hard time telling if the glasses look good on me in the eyeglass store too, since I can't see them all too clearly. Ha! I'm glad yours are holding together okay so far! If that doesn't work, try some E6000 glue. You can get it at a craft store (possibly at Walmart too, but I can't guarantee it) ....it's heavy duty jewelry glue and pretty much will hold anything together.
Ouch for sure! Oh my!
I can't hardly do a thing without my glasses anymore, either. Walk and talk, but have to watch for things, LOL!
I'da never thought of nail glue. I always use the 527 glue... also from Walmart in the craft section.
Oh, poor Verna. That story was quite pitiful. But you did tell it in a very humorous way. ha! Thanks for the morning laugh. I hope you get a back up pair! Did you? :)
Have a lovely Sunday my friend,
Lynnette
