Last Saturday 7-25-09

July 25, 2009 I spent my day at the mall. We had a workshop for Operation Santa.
Julie's mom and dad had never used a sewing machine and they both made stockings.
Gary actually did 7 or 8 that afternoon. I was so proud of him. He was working with a machine that didn't work well and he had to work with it to get it even to sew at all.

We were in the newspaper and on TV news.
I mananged to stay out of the photos on the newspaper, but was quoted in the newspaper.

In the tv video they showed me to start, then showed my hands guiding a stocking thru the sewing machine, then when the interviewed Julie's mother- Linda you could see me in the back ground.

Any one wanting to see it go to WANDTV.COM to their videos and check out
Christmas in July.

The Rooster's Head Ache

Joining Lynenette Kraft at Walking Down Memory Lane. See more memories by clicking on her button above.

THAT ROOSTER HAS GOT TO HAVE A HEAD ACHE!

No photos today, you will simply have to visualize it in your minds.
As a young child we had chickens, rabbits, cows, and geese on the farm.
The boys (who were older then I ) were responsible to help with the cows and take care of the rabbits. (Which we raised for food). Yes, we ate Peter Cotton Tail for Sunday lunch.

Being one of many children (I am # 8 of 9) we all had our chores to do to help.
However, the geese had a tendency to bite. And if you have ever been bitten by a goose or gander you know it hurts like crazy.

My responsibility was gathering the eggs and helping care for the chickens. But the geese were out there too, so I would carry with me a old broom stick. Kinda like a cane - Just in case I needed to use it. Just to scare the geese away.

Well, What I didn't know is that the boys had been teasing the rooster. So,
Off I go to gather the eggs, egg basket/bucket in hand toting my broom stick in the other one.

Just outside the yard gate in the chicken area, WELL, MR. ROOSTER decided he didn't want me crossing his area, HERE HE COMES..... Flapping his wings, and yep he got me. My adrenalin must have kicked in and upset me, because after the flopping he gave me I felt like I had enough of that.

YOU GOT IT!!!

Broom stick came in handy.... I Swung that broom stick at him. Trying to scare him away. He kept coming back so I swung it again this time I hit him in the neck. He did a flip over --stumbled--shook his head and OH- My I THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO DIE.

HOW WAS I EVER GOING TO TELL MOM AND DAD THAT I KILLED THE ROOSTER WITH THE BROOM STICK?

He stumbled the other way shaking his head trying to gain his composure, and I dashed back on the other side of the gate. Putting the fence between the rooster and myself--OF COURSE I WAS CRYING---- After all The rooster had just spanked my bottom. And I thought he was going to die because I hit him with my broom stick.

RESULTS: The rooster lived. But, Dad said since the boys were the ones that teased the rooster and made him mad all the time, they could now also gather the eggs.

SO -- I KNOW THAT ROOSTER HAD TO HAVE HAD A HEAD ACHE!!!!

My fun filled Sat & Sunday.

A very busy Saturday and Sunday. My husband and I watched 3 boys under 8 and sent their parents off to St. Louis for some alone time.

This morning we took them to the diner for Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes, but two wanted the home made cinnamon rolls. Then we went off to Fairview Park to feed the ducts and play on the play ground.

No fights, no fusses, just a lot of good times.

Office Thieves

Or are they just borrowing them and not returning them?

It seems my pencils and pens all disappear off my desk. Anytime I need a regular pencil there are none in or around my desk to be found.

I found the solution to this problem!
In my belongings at home I found a pencil that I purchased when our 8th grade class took a trip to Springfield to see Lincolns Home then on out to New Salem.

Since I brought my own pencil in from home - I have not had any problems of anybody taking off with my pencil.

I don't use a pencil everyday, but when I need one I now have my own eversharp pencil there waiting for me to use.

And Yes I do use this hugh pencil. It is 11 1/2 inches long and almost 2 inches round. Guess they don't want to be seen using it...............

NOW IF I COULD ONLY FIND A REFILLABLE INK PEN THIS BIG.

My Prayer Today

IS:
Lord, I don't want to feel bitter against people. Help me understand why they are the way they are. HELP me do my job and keep my work TOTALLY CAUGHT UP (or at least as much as possible) and be KIND to the call in customers, and fellow workers, even tho they are not kind to me and very demanding.
HELP me make it thru each day with a smile on my face --So they might ask themselves
"What is she up to that she is smiling on this gloomy rainy, busy day."

That they might wonder what I am up to as I do my duties there.
HELP me understand why some people are so controlling, others scream and holler at you for no apparent reason.

OTHERS, want to change things totally from what has worked for over 30 years for the Company. (I know Lord, I don't handle change very well at times, Especially when it comes to BOOKKEEPING). After all it is my responsibility to make sure the books are done correctly without error. IF there are bookkeeping errors, I am the one who has to answer to the boss and to the auditors why things are where they are.

Yes, Lord, I take delight (Pride) in the fact that for years when audited, it is like it was when I first started working in the 70's and the auditor told Old Man Mr. Sims at Sims Lumber that he tried his best to find an error on me, and all he could come up with was ONE CENT ON PAYROLL. And that was because of rounding.

I have nothing to hide in the set of books I keep and have kept for former employers across the years. And will strive to keep it that way, but Lord, Only with your help will I get thru these trying days.

Thank you Lord, in advance for answering my prayer and being by my side every minute of the way.
Amen.

No body likes my SHADES

NO BODY LIKES MY SHADES TODAY.

BUT, I like them better then I like the looks of my eyes ant it has been over 4 hours since they were dilated.

SIMLPY GROSS...... Tho Bob, has ask a number of times to see them. Laughing he tells me "Looks like You've been on crack." then, "Yep, they are still big."

Better, but still not back to normal. My eye doctor appointment was at 7:45 a.m and it is past noon and they still look like this.

BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS: IT IS NOT Glaucoma.

SO, I really don't care if they like my sun glasses or not. It is allowing me to be here and at least help answer the phones.

Quit tailgating us!

Will you tell that guy back there to quit his following so closely?
He's so close I can barely see his head lights. Plus I don't see a driver at all.

Oh well guess he's missing a driver.

Hey dummy he's on the trailer, and connected to the truck you are riding in. No wonder he is following so closely.

Today, Bud and I went to Brunswick, Ohio to pick up this limo. (We called it the Pat Mobil.) We left at 7:30 a.m. Were loaded and headed back by 5 p.m.

We got it loaded after we had some trouble with the trailer ramps. Someone used it in the mud and left mud caked up where the straps needed to be hooked up.
I always cringe when he goes to putting a vehicle on the trailer.
Sitting with both feet on the brake of the truck so it won't move, I kept, say, a prayer. "Please let him get it onto this trailer with no problems, and stay on the trailer. "

And after he gets everything done and ready to roll, it is "Thank You Lord, Now give us a safe journey home."

We came back as far as I280 around Toledo, Ohio when we stopped for a delicious dinner this evening. Actually the first good food of the day. (I don't call a McDonalds egg and cheese biscuit breakfast.) It went plop, plop, and didn't last long at all. Other then that it was the peanuts and jelly beans with water and soda till we stopped tonight.

We stopped at Big Boy Family Restaurant to get my big boy some food.

My big boy is now in bed, since he only had 3 hours of sleep when we started out this morning as he had taken some gals to Chicago yesterday to see the Jonas Brothers show. He arrived home and in bed by 3:00 a.m. and up at 6:30 so we could get on the road.

A lot of times I don't go with him when he goes for these vehicles, but, Today being Saturday I decieded I would go. So, nothing was accomplished at our house today.

Believe we are only 5-6 hours out yet. Can't drive as fast as we did going over empty. After a number of hours of sleep I am sure our ride on home will go just fine. (I so wanted to sit in a hot tub)...NO hot tub just a heated pool, so Guess I will head back upstairs and try and read and get a bit of shut eye myself.

Hope everybody has a wonderful week end.

Busy Summers

Walking down Memory Lane with Lynnette. Sneak on over and check out more memories.

SUMMER HAS ARRIVED.....

This summer being as busy as we have been at the office, I am reminded of a few summers in the past that we were totally bombarded with service work.

One nice thing about this year we do have 7 service men and are able to keep up a bit better. Just two of us ladies in the office with a part time gal coming in twice a week to help out. It reminded me of the first years here when I was totally alone doing all the office duties. Just yesterday I remarked to my co-worker that I am ever so glad to turn the duties of the Receivables and Most of the phone duties over to her. Am ever so glad I do not have to try and do this all alone.

One of our older employees, will come in of an evening, or when he is asking about how the salesmen wants certain jobs done.....His famous words are "I'm too old for this S____."

Guess some days that is how I feel, Am getting too old for some of this stuff. Glad to turn some of it over to the younger generation.

Being this busy this summer, I do not have as much time to blog, working early and later, and being extremely tired when I do get home. So I apologize if I don't leave as many comments. I still try and read as much as possible.

Hope everybody has a wonderful and WARM summer.

Feeding some of God's creatures

It is either feed them or they will eat your flowers in your flower bed.

In our back yard, just inside the gate I have a flower bed. A couple of weeks ago, I added more dirt and added my impatient plants.

Less then one day after I planted them I had to move one.
I had seen a hole going under our shed. But guess whoever made the hole didn't like that I barricaded them into their home. Once again the hole was open and leading into my flower bed.

Yesterday, we find out that we have babies under the shed. Today they have been coming out. Unless I want them to eat my flower leaves, I'd best do something.

So, I took the left overs of Paco's bird seed (he can and is a picky eater), when I change his food of an evening I pour his seed cup contents into a bucket with a lid. I took some of those left over seeds and put them on the side walks close to my flower bed.

At one time we had 3 babies and a mama, then a bird, which the smallest baby run off. Guess he wanted the seeds all to himself. He was a chow en down on that seed.
He is less then 3 inches long, very, very tiny. The way he is eating he will not be tiny long.

What is that crazy women doing?

Elaine, Carol, Dollie & I were privileged to attend Women of Faith Conference in St. Louis last month.

We were among hundreds and hundreds of women that attended.

We had a great time!

Besides hearing all the wonderful speakers.....WELL YOU KNOW ME....

I AM ALWAYS LOOKING AT THINGS FROM A BLOGGERS VIEW ALSO:

I hope not too many people in that rest room heard me laugh out loud, and then hear my camera click, click.

Yes, I DID!

Up for liquid ----Down for Solids.
Wow what is the difference?

My first thoughts were, "Do they go to a different location?"
Then I realized, they simply wanted to save water.

I'm sure there were probably a few ladies in that rest room that wondered just what was that crazy women down in the end stall doing.
No, I didn't photo the toilet, just the sign on the wall behind the toilet. I had never seen anything like this.

It started my day at the preconference off with a laugh.
The first of many laughs that day.

Blessings from Above

Am allowed to tell now,

We are going to be grandparents! YA

Yesterday this was a clip from a e-mail I received from our daughter, Kim. Since I had received a phone call from my niece Rachel, I know that she had told and I had kept her secret as she had requested when they told us.

Yes it is OKAY for you to tell whomever your little heart pleases now.

Our daughter and son in law are expecting their first child, Jan. 2010.
SO, YES, I am yelling it out in my blog,

"I'm Gonna be a GRANDMA!"

Anyone interested can read her entry on her blog with Mel.
http://10in10challengeoffriends.blogspot.com/

We are thanking God for his little miracle and are praying for a healthy pregnacy and baby Boy or Girl come Jan. 2010.

Which also has a link to her journey thus far.
