Screenings

The American Red Cross had a flyer in the local news paper on

Stroke Detection Plus Prevention through early detection scrreenings.

There are 4 life saving screenings listed:

Stroke Screening
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
Peripheral Arterial Disease
Osteoporosis

All Four full wellness profile for $ 125.00

And if the tests were done in a hospital setting they would be $ 300- $700 per test.

On the back side of the flyer it said if Two or more conditions and You are at risk!

1.) Over 40 yrs. old ...... check

2.) More than 20 lbs. overweight....check (Hate to admit it but I must loose about 30 pounds.)

3.)Family history of strokes.....check.... (My dad had over 7 of them).

4.) High cholestrol.....check.....but I do have it down again with meds.

5.) Cigarette smoking.... no not me.

6.)Diabetes................... no

7.)High blood pressure...... Check at least at some times. not always. Am on meds tho to keep it under control.

8.) Inactive Lifestyle.... no I'm pretty active.

9.) Heart Disease......not that I know of.

10.) TIAs- Minor Strokes.... not that I am aware of....

Oh, but let me count....that means I have checked 4 and it said if 2 or more conditions then you are at a risk.

So I have made an appointment to get these screenings done. And I should have the results of these screenings by the time my physical comes around on the Wednesday after we get back from vacation in the middle of April.

I, just visited my mother-in-law at the nursing home at noon. Seeing how she is it makes me think of what my dad went through when he had all his strokes. And IF I CAN PREVENT ANY OF THAT....then I am all for doing these screenings.


After all, I want to be able to enjoy my granddaughter and not be sick to where I cannot enjoy her. So the last of this month I will take 40 minutes of my time and get these done, and hopefully everything will be okay.
