Alone again

Alone again.

New Years Eve and sitting here alone again. The Road Warrier (Bud) has left to do his duty and make sure that the people who are partying don't drink and drive. There are 5 couples going out this evening and he is taking the Miles bus and making sure they are all safe. Pat told them the only way they could take the bus was if Bud was their driver. They are buying him a steak dinner, and that is probably good because it may be a while before he gets a regular meal again. He thinks he should be back here at home by 4 A.M. next year.

At 5 A.M. Darwin is to meet him at Miles and take him to St. Louis Airport to catch his flight to Boston, MASS. to pick up a vehicle in Milford, MASS. He should be back from there sometime on Friday==1102 miles.

Saturday afternoon he goes to Indianapolis , IN airport to pick up the Dawson kids who are in Florida celebrating their christmas present from Jack & Laura. Spending a week in Florida in a condo.

Sunday morning he leaves for Florida -driving Jim and Sue Dawson's car. and Flys back on Tuesday into Peoria, IL airport. He comes home with Mike Dawson when he takes his parents to Peoria to catch their flight down to Florida for 6 -8 weeks.

Wednesday noon he then takes my boss, Ron and Donna Wilson to Indianapolis, IN. to the air port to catch their flight to Fort Meyer, Florida. Where they will be gone until April sometime.

Thursday he says he is taking the day off......WELL, daaa...he will probably callapse by then. Over 3,000 driving in the next few days.

SO, again I say --- Alone again.

Looking on the bright side.
No meals to cook.
No extra food to buy for the week end. I can simply use a gift certificate or two and eat out. Plus on Saturday The Beachy's are gathering for brunch in Chesterville for their Christmas gathering.

No problem going to Julie's tomorrow to try and get Brandon's comforter done.

No problem working on Friday - he won't be home anyway.
Doing Payroll on the normal day that payroll is done. Don't understand why they were so upset today. They will get their checks the same time they normally do. Anytime after 10 A.M. on Friday.

Some People are really ticked at me.

Guess they think I am ruining their lives since I am not doing payroll today, like I did last week before Christmas.

I plan on coming in on Friday even tho nobody else around here is going to be working that day. I will get payroll done and Bod did say he would stop in sign them for me. So, I told the guys they could pick up their checks between 11 and 1 on Friday. (This allows me not to have to adjust time cards for 2-3 weeks in a row when I am doing payroll). Plus if I come in when everybody else is gone. I should be able to get a couple of those reports done that need my undivided attention and get them done 20 times faster then if I tried to do them when the phones were ringing, and people were being impatient with us.

I found this greeting card at noon at Giggles (downtown) when I went down to Pastabilities for salad and bread sticks. I simply could not resist. I had to have it. The inside says "Happy Birthday from your favorite Bitch!".
Don't know if I will ever use the card to give away or not, but sure do like the front.

P.S. Also found a pickle Christmas tree ornament. But not as big as the one you got Kim.

My thinking on the whole ordeal is. I am still working in December and not ready to go to 2009. Next payroll is 2009 payroll, and they will simply have to get over it!

Who gave me her Bunny?

Who gave me the Bunny? If my memory serves me correctly it was Miss Kimberly Anne Coleman who gave me the Bunny. And I do believe it was when she was going off to college and I was sad that she was leaving.

He has had many a hug when I would get homesick for her and she was too far away for me to get a hug from her.

Week end drawing to a close

Our long week end is drawing to a close. In the morning it will be back to the grind stone (At Least for 3 days next week.

Month end, year end. I am sure there are a lot of reports that I will need to do.
The boss will want to go to Florida on the 7th of January and he likes to see as many of these reports he can before he goes.
Will I be able to get them all done? Don't Know.
My question to me is "Do you remember all the reports that need to be done?"
I don't think I have written down all the reports that I need to do at year end before the books go to the auditors for tax time. Sometimes I think I'd best make myself a list to refer to, but have really never sat down and did it. Somehow I always manage to remember all of them and they all get done in due time.

My first priorities in the morning will be doing the time book from last weeks time cards as I know one of the first reports he likes to see is the Productivity Report.
Who has been productive in 2008 and who has been a slacker?

This reminds me of a report I saw years ago, when he graded everybody on a scale from 1-10. I was being compared to his own daughter...wow.... Appearance....well daaaa...of course she got a great grade. I don't specialize in make up and perfume. But I do know my clothes are clean and presentable.

But when it came to Dependability......OH YES ! I out ranked her!!!!
I've always said, I am not at that office for my looks --- I am there to work and do my job. People will just simply have to accept me for being me.

I don't remember all the other categories that he had on his list, but these two have always stuck out to me. It also makes me know, Never judge a person by their looks. (Never judge a book by it's cover--- it might be a great book). And the personalities and characters of people, they may be the sweetest people you know.

It's been a wonderful 4 days away from the office. But Monday morning, back to reality. You have a job to do - so off to work we go.

But before the day comes to a end. I will join the church ladies at Carlos O'Kelly's for our December meeting. We postponed it from the week day night that it was scheduled for due to the ice and snow. So, we still have another Christmas celebration to go to. With a white elephant gift exchange. It could prove to be rather interesting. But always so much fun.! Don't know if we will make it to Sunday evening service at church or not. The Gates family is singing tonight. And since Amy and I went to Red Lobster for Lunch, I do believe it will be desert only at Carlos....FRIED ICE CREAM HERE I COME..........Diet must start tomorrow.

Memories

When putting the living room back together after taking the tree down, I picked up this teddy. He has a black yarn string tied around his neck and a note hanging from the string.

I gave him a big hug. And read the note a number of times. Then set him up so I can see him everyday.

When I feel sad or blue, I pick him up, give him a big, big hug and as I cuddle him, remember that "Some bunny Loves me!"

Day After

So on the day after, do we all have a sugar high?
Nope, not me, I didn't overeat and definitely not on sugar.

The hash brown casserole was delicious.
The festivities were grand. There were a few surprises in the day.
My daughter surprised me with a tote bag that she made. It was a year in the making, but I will always treasure it!

Check out her Christmas post: http://10in10challengeoffriends.blogspot.com/2008/12/very-merry-christmas.html

Bud has two Indianapolis, IN. air port runs today. One early this morning and one this evening. So since I have the day off, I will try and do some laundry and work in the sewing room a bit. I may even start the project that I want to send to my co worker's brother in Baghdad. If I get all that done, I do have another quilt top that I could put into frame to get quilted this winter.
But then, I could just plain watch tv, lounge around and do nothing all day. (Something that the ladies with little ones in the house cannot normally do for a whole day).

So my day after should be a quiet one here at home staying warm.

I hope and trust everybody had a wonderful Christmas like we did!

P.S. Someone in the family letter ask me if Santa was bringing me everything I ask for. I really only had one request of Santa. To this date he has not been able to deliver to me that request. Until then---we will keep hoping that someday he will be able to do so.

Merry Christmas

In case I don't get back to blogging before the end of the holiday.
I just want to wish everybody a safe and Merry Christmas.

The weather is nicer this morning 40 degrees... Not the 30 degrees we had yesterday with the falling ice pellets and rain that made driving and walking very treacherous.
Never have I had to salt my way into my own home. I started up the sidewalks with my 50 pound bag of salt. Only to slide back thru the gate again. Reached for my phone to phone Bud to tell him to throw me a scissors so I could open the salt bag, when he opened the door. So, he tossed me the scissors and a plastic cup and I started to salt my way to the door.

David, the shop man just got in, he stated our parking lot out back is a joke. He finally just pulled straight in so that he wouldn't hit the other guys car that has been parked out back, since he is out of time yet.
I knew the front lot was icy, because I had to hang onto the steering wheel when I got in and out of my car if I didn't want to land flat on my butt.

Getting the ice on top of the ice already on the streets and parking lot then rain on top of it, makes it very slick.

Have ordered the Arby's Roast beef to be picked up at One. Hope it stays warm enough so Kim and Clay don't have any trouble coming over this afternoon to have Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa and Evie.

The girls from Curves never showed up this morning, So guess the boss will get an extra hour out of me today. And since it is year end payroll today, I know I will have plenty to keep me busy till I want to leave.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL! And Safe travel if you are traveling anywhere to celebrate.

Ice, Ice and more Ice.

What does the Tica parking lot look like?
A skating rink.

What did the girls eat for lunch?
Popcorn

Did they leave for lunch?
Definitely Not, why spend our whole lunch hour scraping ice from our windshields?

Will we get to go home early?
Probably not.

Do we have to work tomorrow?
Of course!

Do you get Friday off?
YES, we do, I almost had a heart attach when they told us that.

Are you ready for Christmas?
Yes, I am.

Do you like this weather?
That's kinda a stupid question. NO, I DO NOT LIKE THIS
WEATHER ONE BIT!

Is Salt expensive?
Not really, one of the guys picked up a 50 pound bag for $ 15.00 at Garver Feeds.

Are you ready to call it a day?
I was ready a long time ago. Even if there is still stuff in my basket that I could do. Been here since 6:45 A.M. So I am rather tired.

NOT ME! Monday

I did not just get off the phone and mutter under my breath, "Lady if you have no heat GO to the kitchen and bake me some cookies" You won't freeze to death if you have your oven on. People, are so impatient! Of course, I know it is 2 Degrees outside, and if you have no heat you want a service man there as soon as possible. We have 6 guys out there working as fast as we can. We will get it as soon as we can and will call you before we want to come.

Patience Verna, patience, Some of these people are real OLD and others have kids at home.

Surprise---- I WON

Now I can't say that I never win anything. Saturday night at our Company Christmas Party I won a tool kit. Bud won a bag lawn chair.
This year we had our party at the Holiday Inn in the Kirkland Room. We had a good turn out and had lots of food and fun.
Below is a picture of what I won. YAAAAA Now I can fix almost anything I want around the house. Just have to hide my case of tools away from others in the house so they don't disappear. Already the comment was made it would be nice to have it in the truck.

bloggy game

Bloggy Game

Join the fun!
Katie from
http://whenhellomeansgoodbye.blogspot.com/ has challenged us to
Take a picture of your view from a window in your house (even if you don't have snow!), and post it on your blog along with the picture above (you can copy and paste it). Then link your blog back to here and post a comment so I can take a look at your winter wonderland, or your perfect paradise for you southerners (but don't rub it in too much!).

Decatur, Illinois
This was taken from our front door toward the church. Had I stopped this morning on the way to work I would have had a good one of the trees loaded with ice. We are greatful that it warmed up a bit today so that the ice, snow, ice that we had gotten started to disappear a bit.
I'm ready for summer!

Doing my Kindergarden work.

A return Label on each envelope.

Stamps on each envelope. We decided to stamp envelopes ourselves instead of buying prestamped envelopes. Every time they raise their prices I ended up putting one cent stamps on 500-1000 envelopes. And I got a bit tired of doing this every year, So I sit and stamp them in advance ready to use.

This morning I put stamps and return labels on 300 envelopes, so they are ready to use.
I call this my Kindergarten work, because I don't really have to think about what I am doing when I do it. I find it refreshing to do sometimes, because it gives me a break from all the sorting of packing slips, invoices, and purchase orders that I work with daily.
Yep, the mess from yesterday is all ready to put on the computer to payables, and file in the drawer to be paid Jan. 10, 2009. There were only 4 invoices in today's mail so at the moment, my basket is looken good!!! YAAAAA.

Frustrations

How High can I let it stack before it falls over?

Last week one day I had everything in this basket totally done.
Picture tells it all. A Big fat MESS!
Guess I'd best put my boots on and start wading amidst this mess and see how much of it I can get done today.

Christmas 2008 - Where's Santa?

2008 Christmas Season is upon us. Where is Santa and what is he up to?
Saturday Morning he appeared at the Golden Glaze Donut Shop on East William Street, In Decatur, Illinois.

His youngest visitors were 6 weeks old.
He was there from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. And there must have been 100 kids who came in to have breakfast with Santa. Sit on his lap, take pictures and get a small gift. This year the boys got hot wheels and the girls got lip balm.

Before Santa was allowed to leave, they wanted a photo of their workers with Santa.

After leaving the donut shop he appeared at Moundford Terrace Apartment Complex. There were not as many kids, but the ones who did show up had a wonderful time.

Santa was having a very good heart to heart talk with this little boy.

To the oldest person who got to sit on Santa's lap that day. It was a very enjoyable day.

Yep, I got to sit on Santa's lap. Should I uses this photo for next year's Christmas Cards?
There are those who ask "where is your Mrs. Clause outfit?" I had looked for one, but they wanted well over $100 for one and I wasn't sure I wanted to spend that much money for only wearing it such a short time.
I do believe Santa has about 4 more private duties this year and of course has to visit everybody's house on Christmas Eve.
Hope there are a lot of Santa's helpers out there this year. And that everybody has a wonderful "Merry Christmas".

Son In Law Done with School

The six of us went out to dinner this noon to celebrate.

No More school....All Done...YAAAAAAA

It was also very great to see them today. And to get to see Tom and Cheryl again. Hopefully we will get to see them again on Christmas Day when we meet at Kim and Clays for dinner and afternoon of fun.

The Mystery Has Been Solved. and updated

The Mystery has been solved. We now have additional photos of the church, and also a street sign so we know where to go look for it when we get out in the Mt. Vernon, South Dakota area again.

Mike came in today and said Wayne took more pictures when he was out there in the past couple of weeks. And Yep, gave the pictures to me. I am hoping I will be able to locate it next time I am in that area.

Don't know if I will ever see this in person or not, but I still think it is a wonderful building. Without the corn that was in the first picture I posted you can tell it would need a lot of work to use again.

But how many memories does it hold for people in the Mt. Vernon area? If it could speak I am sure it would have a lot of stories to tell us.

Update: 12/15/08 Mike Just informed me that Wayne says the church is in
Mt. Vernon, South Dakota not Mitchell. Therefore, my correction.

Insurance claim

The insurance claim has been made. The $50.00 deductible was paid.

(What can I go out and get for $ 50.00 now?, after all if he spent $50.00 shouldn't I be able to spend the same amount?)

The new phone was delivered to the office today. David brought it up to the front from the shop and commented about my changing my name to Forrest. He claims he didn't know Bud's legal name was Forrest. (I only call him Forrest Lowell when I am extremely perturbed with him. He knows if I call him Forrest that he best sit up straight and take notice. I am upset about something).

He came by the office around 1 and walked next door to Barbeck to get his phone turned on and the loaner phone given back to them.

So now the bet is "How long will this one last?" Or will there be another insurance claim in the next 6 months because he has abused this one.
I say I need to go see Bob Trowbridge- from church....he has some of the first cell phones they ever made. I need to get one of those supper old (Hoopty big) cell phones and display it, telling Bud if he messes this one up. He can use this hoopty one next time.

Snow bank, hot coffee or toilet

Takes a licken and keeps on ticken.....will it continue to work after being abused?

First It landed in a snow bank, was rescued and returned to owner.

Second it landed in a cup of hot coffee the owner thinking it was it's holder.
After drying out - surprise it still worked.

Third--- Now it has landed in a toilet. Will it dry out and keep on working?

What am I talking about? Bud's Cell phone what else.
Now the question is will it dry out and work again or is it totally history.
I think he should go back to carrying a real old one since he hasn't taken care of his 4-5 week old new one. What do you think?

Changes

Change things and sure enough you x something that you don't want to x and things don't appear like they used to.

I think I got the comments back up, but how did I get the funny, etc at the bottom. If you know where to go, let me know so I can remove it.

Sorry, Sherri, I hadn't checked it close enough that I noticed that.

Friendship Company Christmas dinner

Tonight we had our Friendship Company Christmas dinner at the church. And we exposed ourselves to our Precious Pals. There were not as many ladies there as sometimes, but we did have a good time.
A white elephant gift exchange and then the ones who did Precious Pals exchanged their gifts.
We always say, if you bring a nice gift for the white elephant, don't have your heart set on going home with a nice one. Someone might steal it from you if their number is after yours.
I got to keep my snowman cookie jar, my Rudolph, etc. Think I will take it to work and put it in my corner for a winter decoration at the office.
It is always fun to see if the person who's name we had could guess or knew that we had their name. Some of them have no clue.
Next year, we are trying something different. Only cards and prayers throughout the year, then a nice gift at Christmas time. Cards can be purchased cards or homemade ones. So guess, I will need to get my creative hat on and come up with some good ones.
I'm not telling who I drew for this next year. Let's just say, I hope to have a lot of fun getting and doing cards for this one.
Then there are those who wouldn't do it for this next year. They don't like change. They are the same people who don't do much throughout the year for their precious pals in the past.
I could care less about the gifts. I simply love to know that there are people out there praying for us. There when we need them, we can cry on their shoulders, tease them or laugh till we cry with them. It helps to know that there is someone out there praying for us.
The gal who's name I had this past year, commented that they would not have been able to go out to eat for their anniversary had I not given her that gift certificate for their anniversary. How sad, that in their budget they wouldn't have been able to go somewhere for a simple meal out with their spouse.

The Photo

The photo of the old building in a prior post.
I cannot believe it, Mike gave me his original photo yesterday. The one that I took the picture of before I went to South Dakota to see if I could find out where it was.

He tells me Wayne is going out to see his family there, and do some hunting. He is instructed to get me the closest road signs so that the next time I go to South Dakota, I myself may be able to go see this building.

Per say it is somewhere west of Mitchell, South Dakota. Way out in the boonies. Guess I didn't go west far enough. As Walmart in Mitchell was the furthest West I went when I was there.

Someday, I hope to see this building in person!

Mike also tells me Wayne has additional photos of this building. Perhaps someday I will be able to see them also. This building fastinates me! A building out in the country like that, perhaps it could be renovated to be a living quarters? Oh, I know, I am much too old to think of doing something like that. But, I still have to wonder what does the inside look like? Is that a bell tower? Is the bell still there and does it ring? So, I will keep dreaming---I wish to see this building in person.

Another day, another dollar

So off he goes to St. Louis in the morning to fly to South Carolina to bring another vehicle back. Adding another state to his travels in driving vehicles back for Miles Chevrolet.

This means I will be on my own tomorrow evening. I do have a reflexology session scheduled right after work. Then it will be late Saturday p.m. before he will get back. Will I get lots done or will I curl up in that bed for another 12 hours of wonderful rest? Guess time will tell.

Today was very hectic. Julie had sick little ones, and I was on my own with the fellows. Guess when they had to answer the none stop phones while I went to lunch they found out how much we really deal with daily. Did not get my desk cleaned off yet and tomorrow is payday. Plus I believe the 10th payment is due to be totally done by the middle of next week. Looks like I'll have plenty to keep me busy the next few days. Is this what they call Job Security?

Christmas Tree up at the office

After a good soup and bread at Panera Bread yesterday p.m. I decided I should put up the Christmas tree at the office. For years we didn't have one, and 3 years ago, Ron brought us their small one that they didn't use anymore. Perhaps this will get me in the Christmas spirit.

Chronic fatigue, Flu, or Fibromyalgia?

Be it chronic fatigue, flu or fibromyalgia? Or is it a case of all three working their little duties on me.

I arrived home from South Dakota in St. Louis around 8 p.m. on Friday night. I was extremely tired. Finally after contacting Northwest a number of times, our bags were finally on the carousel for pick up. They had been stuck in the chute and they litterly had to go downstairs and unstick them. Must have been stuck good. My zipper was partially broken and my handle on the back, well, let's put it this way, that suit case found it's way to the dumpster, it will not make any more travels. It has served its purpose.

Arriving at the hotel I called my husband, and he wanted to know if I would be home early enough to go to breakfast with him. My response was, "I am going to bed, and when I wake up, then I will start home".

When I got home the sun was shining and it would have been a lovely day for us to continue on to Bloomington, Il. to pick up his truck that was sitting at the airport. OH, no he would get it later. I should have insisted. Sunday morning, he wants to go get his truck. So after breakfast we head to Bloomington, amid snow. Bloomington had at least 6" if not more. There was about 8-9 inches of snow on the truck when we got there. Having no broom with us, we used ice scrapers to clear off the truck. And we head home in this crappy weather compared to what it was on Saturday p.m.

Stopped at the service station on the south side of Bloomington for something to drink. Started for Decatur, 4 blocks from the station he pulls over. He has lost his cell phone. So we went back to the station to make sure he didn't leave it in the rest room. Called the place in Clinton where we had breakfast to see if he left it on the table. NOPE, nobody had seen it. So it must have dropped off at the airport when we were cleaning off the truck. He declared it would be ruined in the snow, and even tho we were only 8-10 miles from the airport decided he would just have to put in a insurance claim in for the two week old phone that he had lost. He would not go back to see if we could find it.

So off we head for Walmart to do some shopping. When we got to Walmart, I needed to use the rest room. While sitting there, still half ticked at him for loosing his new phone, I decided to TXT his phone a message. "If you find this phone call 217 620 2061 thank you for being a honest person" I really didn't expect a phone call, but was ever so Grateful when my phone rang and it said 1Husband....I knew it was from Bud's phone. Joe, had parked his car and found it in the snow....There are still some honest people in this world...Thanks to Joe we did not have to buy a new phone. But what we did have to do - is go get the phone from airport security.

Monday Morning, it took Bud over 4 1/2 hours to go to Bloomington and back to pick up his phone. (HE should have LISTENED TO ME ON SUNDAY) The roads were terrible. He said he couldn't drive very fast, and drove with his flashers on all the way. People would pass him and 2-3 miles down the road they were off in a ditch. Twice he was off the road on the shoulder but was able to get it back on the road before hitting the ditch.

My day here at the office Monday was very hectic. My desk looked like a tornado should hit it and take care of all of it. But I did what I could and the rest would simply have to wait. Monday night we had tacos for dinner. Going down I didn't think they tasted very good. Yet I had been so hungry for Tacos so I continued to eat them. Well, I should have stopped the minute I didn't think they tasted like they should. Part of them made their way up early in the evening, the rest waited till 1:30 A.M. and I was unable to reach the toilet in time. (Yep, missed the toilet so you can only imagine what mess I had). Cleaned up my mess, grabbed a blanket and went to the couch for the rest of the night.

Yesterday, my stomach still felt queasy from the tacos, so all I was able to really feel like is drinking 7up to keep it calm. Julie was off with 2 sick kids, and I needed to be here. At lunch I tried some noodle soup, but it didn't taste very good. By 3:30 I had it. I walked into Bob's office and told him and Mike that they would have to hold down the fort for the rest of the day I was going home, I felt Like SHIT.

I went home ate hot milk/bread soup, drank a glass of milk and went to bed. Bud put his electric blanket on my bed. I slept over 12 hours.
This morning I still feel weak but not nearly as tired as I was yesterday, but am able to work. My shoulders and arms still feel like a truck run over them, but then we are supposed to still get results from our treatments up to 6 weeks after we come back. While there I was told that I had all the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia....Not something I really wanted to hear, but not surprising to me either. I know how tiered I have been the past number of months. And my muscles have been giving me fits for a long time. From leg cramps, foot cramps to arms that want to sleep constantly. My arms aren't asleep since I've been to S.D. but they do tingle up to the elbows when I get tired. He told me to definitely not quit Curves as I should get as much excise as possible and most definitely not stop getting my weekly massages as they will keep my muscle tone the best possible.

So, was it chronic fatigue, flu or fibromyalgia? I think it was probably all three that have had a bearing to how I have felt the past 24 hours. There is a lot of flu going around here, but most of the people who have had it only have problems for a day, which means I shouldn't feel yucky anymore. ha.ha.

I will do what I can, the rest will wait. I have never in my whole 28 years here seen anything run off because I didn't get it done. Somehow, it always stays put and waits till I get it done.

Debating where to go for lunch. Panara Bread? They have soup, might taste good with bread. Even if it is across town from here. Roads are clear at the moment, but it sure looks as tho it could dump a bunch more snow on us at any time.

Payback

As many of you know I took the HP laptop with me to South Dakota last week. This is what I found when I got home today. Taped to the back door.
Payback for sending him a photo of my Thanksgiving Day dinner.

Was told to kiss it

Well, here it is Thanksgiving day. I am miles and miles from home in South Dakota, and I know that Bud has an airport pick up to make at Chicago.......as I sat down with a plate of food I picked up my phone and snapped a photo.
Simply could not resist.

Yum, Yum I feel a nap coming on.

After I finished desert and all, I text messaged it to my husband, because he was a bit upset that he wasn't going to get turkey today.
Can you believe it? His reply was "kiss my but"

When he called me a bit later, when I saw it was him calling me I answered the phone with kissing noises. He told me Becky was going to save him enough turkey for a sandwich when he got home. Plus why should he care. He had turkey a couple Sunday's ago.

I do not know how they fixed their turkey, but it was not dry at all. I actually liked it and I'm not real crazy about turkey. The resturant was only open from 11:00 to 1:00 and you had to make reservations. She told me they had 104, plus I guess Baxta's served and they also had a meal at one of the churches.

After lunch I took another drive out into the country. No I didn't find the building that I have a photo of that I am told is out here somewhere. I really wanted to know exactly where it is, but nobody seems to know.
Has anybody seen this building?

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

Thankful for family and friends, for the health that we do have even tho not always to our liking.

Hope everybody has a good day and doesn't eat too much turkey.

I don't think they know I can understand them

Every time I come out here there are a lot of Amish out here. I don't think they know that I can understand most of what they are saying. Haven't caught any of them talking about me yet. Just waiting tho. This morning I am wearing my gray New York City shirt, a pair of gray sweat pants. And no nonsense socks..... Nope no shoes, I don't have to go outside so I just put socks on. My feet hurt.

Later after I rest after my treatment I think I will drive into Mitchell to Walmart. I need to get labels to make Christmas card addresses and I want the clear labels. If I get them I can see what format I need to use and I can type the addresses and save them until I get home, print them and slap them on my cards in no time flat. Those that go to the church people I will not need to mail, but will need names on them so I know which mailbox to stick them in when they put the mailboxes up at church.

I also need to start Christmas shopping. Need to get it done as quickly as possible. Or at least get ideas on what I am going to buy for people.

I also need to buy something to clean this pc screen with. I see a lot of Bud's thumb prints on the side so I know it hasn't been cleaned recently. He plays a lot of poker on line with the lap top.

Oh, yes, when he called me last night he informed me, we had no heat in the apartment. He called Dale the maintenance man, and they found out it was the circuit board, but he didn't have one with him. So I hope I don't loose any fish. He said it was 64 degrees inside, and the fish tank water was just below the safe zone, so Hope they will get it going soon.

I know I'm all over the place with this post. But deal with it. I'm on vacation and trying to relax so who cares.

Scenes from yesterdays drive into the country

As I went on my drive down to the lake yesterday I noticed these balloons caught up in the tree. Have to wonder did some small child loose his/her balloons or were they set off on purpose and do they have a tag attached to them. Guess I'll never know. Don't think I can climb this tree to get them.

Every time I go down to the lake we come across this road and every time I go, I wish I could go sledding down this hill. OF Course somebody best be down the road a bit and make sure there was nobody coming up the hill or you'd be a dead duck. Wonder if the people who live out here have actually done it before.

A look at the lake.

Bud has always said that someday he wants to stay in one of these cabins for a week when we come out here. They have three at one access and this time around I see they gave 4 & 5 located at the other access. May have to try it, but I know I won't try to cook over the open fire. He would have to bring the small refrigerator and microwave along so that I wouldn't have to run into town (5 miles at least) for food.
Of course if the lake restaurant was open we could always go over there and he could let me eat steak every night.

YEP, that's right I didn't get out of the car. It is COLD out here.
Took the pictures out the car window.

Modern vs primative

Modern or updated vs primitive

I believe this is my 22nd visit to the Ortman Clinic in South Dakota.
Have stayed at 4 different motels in town.

The Ortman Hotel is attached to the clinic. Some of their rooms are very plain, and small. But then some of the amish don't want big rooms, etc,

This room is down the hall from me. Very, Very small with a small bath.
Some rooms are connected and share a bath.

Room is very, very small.

But this bath isn't to bad.

I would feel cooped up in this room.

My bath isn't the biggest, but it isn't the smallest either.

And there is plenty of room to walk around the bed.

There is a table and lamp between the bed and clothes rack.
And look there on the left Yes that is a microwave and small refrigerator. Very nice.
Some rooms are lucky to have one chair to sit on and I have 3.
The six O'Clock town whistle just went off. Only town I have ever stayed in that they blow a 12 noon whistle and a 6 p.m whistle. They also tested their sirens, or I sure hope it was a test it was 1 minute long steady (all clear signal)... the 3 minute long steady is a weather signal. Alternating steady a fire signal (all their firemen are volenteers) and Wail is an attach signal. (This information is posted on the inside of my door. Guess they don't want their guests to be frightened.

How much time till Christmas?

When I think about it, Christmas will be here before we know it. Are you ready? I did put up a small Christmas tree in the living room this morning before I went to have my facial.

Will I have enough energy later to put up the bigger tree in the dining room inside the back door? Well, why not put it in the dining room? We don't eat out there anyway. What meals I do cook we seem to eat in the living room on blue lap trays.
I sure am glad I don't have to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Lately I really don't like cooking any more.

Where will I put the presents? Well, if there are any they most definitely will not be under the tree in the living room. It is sitting on top of a plastic covered drawers behind the couch. Small but pretty.

Perhaps I'll do most of my shopping on line next week when I am off. Hope the Internet doesn't give me fits up there.

Modern Technology

Modern technology can sometimes be very frustrating for me. Here I am about to leave home for a week and this afternoon I could not get on line downstairs with the lap top. Is this what I get for insisting that I am going to take the lap top with me?

I ended up coming upstairs and find that for some odd reason we were not connected to Internet on the main computer either. After trying a number of things -Turning units off and resetting, I was finally able to log onto Internet upstairs again.

Hopefully this will have solved my lap top problem too.

Life is good when things work, but when they create problems I wonder are all these new technology things worth it?

My bags are all packed for me to leave in the morning.

Bud will be leaving ahead of me, only he is going to Bloomington to catch the 6 a.m. flight to Boston, New York to go to Akron, New York to pick up a vehicle that Miles bought off the Internet.
He is to be back on Monday night, probably will be late. Then on Tuesday he is to take his mother to Chicago to Northwest Memorial to have three procedures done on Wednesday. Yep the day before Thanksgiving. I can only imagine what the traffic will be like for them coming back home.
Thanksgiving Day he goes back to O'Hara airport to pick up a couple and their little one. And he is hoping that next week end the trip to Montgomery, Alabama will be a final go. So why did he worry so much about being home alone and me being in South Dakota. Looks like I would have been the one at home alone if I wasn't going West.

I sure am glad Veda and David can stop by and feed the fish, or we might have a few dead ones before I got back.

Anybody hear anything about North Carolina having tornatos recently? Veda has family living down here and they were telling her what damages were done. I sure don't remember seeing anything about it in the news.

I saw my nephew got a Buck when he went out deer hunting.... Good job. But tell me why do people like a sport where they sit out in the super cold and all but freeze to shoot things?

One more Day

One more day and the week end will be upon us. Laundry, packing, making reservations for Bud to take his mother to Chicago on Tuesday for her procedures on Thanksgiving Eve. Yep, downtown Chicago on one of the busiest days of the year. She is to have 3 procedures. One at 9:30, one at 10 and another one in the afternoon. She wanted to go the day before and stay the night. Wish I could be a little mouse. I'm sure that will be a different kind of trip for him. They are booked into the motel right across the street from the Hospital. He is not looking forward to coming home with people going south for Thanksgiving with families.

Doing some of the laundry tonight since Bud is going to Michigan tomorrow. Today they went to Ohio and back. Saturdays are never long enough to get everything done. Plus I have a facial at 10:30 and will need to get my bags all packed too. Hope I don't forget anything, but it seems as tho every time I go out of town I always seem to forget something.

SO, if I can get thru one more day at the office --I'm out of here for a week...Ya

Julie will do payroll tomorrow to get the feel of it since she will be doing it on her own next Friday. I have a little bit of filing to do, but all in all there is actually nothing on my desk that needs to be done. Ya....perhaps it won't be trashed to no end when I get back. But wouldn't bet on it because it will be the end of the month when I get back. There will be lots of billing and probably dozens of invoices from our suppliers to post before we can go to the next month.

Just think a very short time and Christmas will be here. Are you ready? NOT ME, I really haven't started shopping yet. I may do most of my shopping on line this year, I really don't want to put up with all the people out there. The world seems to have gone crazy. Their driving is really bad. They pass you like they are going to a fire and yet there they sit at the next light waiting for it to turn green.
What is everybody's hurry? We should all stop and smell the roses. Take life a bit more easier and simple. Perhaps we would all live a bit longer.

So guess I should get a good night sleep.

Count down has begun

Count down to the week end has begun. On Sunday I will be traveling to St. Louis, to catch my plane to South Dakota. (No, I cannot fly on my broomstick). I know I have been called the wicked witch of the East here at the office, but I cannot fly on a broomstick.
I am so looking forward to a whole week of relaxation, peace and quiet, and definitely my phone not ringing as much as the phone here at the office does.

Yesterday and so far today we have been real busy. Guess with the weather turning colder people are turning their furnaces on.

It will be a busy week before I go. Tonight is Carlos O'Kelly's with the church group of girls. We will be celebrating two birthdays tonight. No gifts, just crazy cards. Unless you really don't know the person, then you stick to nice cards.

Wednesday night I go to Macon for a hair cut. Thursday night it looks as tho I actually have a free night with nothing planned. Friday night I will need to get a few groceries for the household so that Bud will have something to eat while I am gone.

Saturday I have a free facial scheduled. Amy gave me a gift certificate for a pedicure last year, but then the gal who did those is no longer there so, she is going to give me a facial instead. (So I will look all beautiful for my trip away from home).ha.ha.
Honestly tho it does feel so good to have her do a facial.

Had an e-mail from my brother Levi this morning. Guess he spoke with Edward and he is back home and on medication. But did get his movement back in his arm again. Will have to get his strength back again. Didn't say if he is expecting to return to his upholstering soon or not.

COLD---COLD---COLD

Today I feel as tho it is cold out there. We actually had a few snow flurries today too. Nothing that will or did stick the ground is too warm yet.

One man came in to pay his bill and said his neighbors probably thought he was nuts. He was using the lawn mower to mulch his leaves this morning and it was snowing... It was pretty, but I am just not ready for winter to be here yet.

Normally I am hot, but today I could have used a sweater here at the office to cover my short sleeves. My hands feel like they are freezing.
I sure dread winter..........Can I retire and move?

He does have eyes

They did get a photo with his eyes open, but he definately did not open them for his great aunt Verna. I stopped by the hospital on the way to the pet store. So they sent me this photo with his eyes open. They should be able to go home tomorrow.
Tonight I promised to watch a friend of ours 2 children so they could go out to eat with family. Her sister is here from Florida and the grown ups wanted to go to Stoneys to eat. So from 6 to whatever I will be with their two children.

Two Deaths in household

Two deaths in household. Found out this morning that yep, not one but both of my snails had died. The tank was a mess, and I started to do a much needed water change. It hadn't been that long since I had done one so I was a bit upset that it needed to be done already. After all I buy the water by the gallon since I cannot use City water or they would all be dead. So I fished them out and he gave them a garbage grave......

I think they F'd themselves to death. Every time you came downstairs they were at it. I think she just said forget it and died, and he died of loneliness, etc.

So I guess instead of snails I will go and see if I can get a picosumus for that tank too.

I don't think the angel fish are grieving much either. They didn't like me with my cyphering hose, but they'll get over it. Already the tank looks better. I have to get a few more gallon of water, but at least it is a lot nicer.

Mabel -- the most aggressive one in the tank hid from me. Never seen a angel fish that will come to the top and go completely upside down to eat and run the others off so she can have more....Little piggy.
I think he named the other 3 too, but I for the life of me can't remember what their names were. :)

Hope this is the last catastrophe that I have to deal with today.

Isaac Matthew R.

This is how I spent my lunch hour yesterday. Grandma even let me hold him.:)
When I called her to see where they were, etc, I ask if he was in the room. He was not there at that time, but Martha told me they could get him anytime. So, by the time I got there he was in the room with them.

He did not open his eyes for the camera, but when the flash went off he opened them the check to see what was going on before going back to sleep.
Looks like his momma.

Niece had her baby/spoke to my brother

My niece had her baby last night at 11:05 p.m. They ended up having to do a C section. I went over to the hospital at noon to see him. Isaac Matthew R....weighs 8.1 pounds.

Cutie...will have pictures later.

Also, spoke to my older brother. They think they caught it at it's early stages, they were able to give him the medicine and he did not have any spells since. He has his motor functions back again. When they first went to the emergency room he couldn't make his left arm obey his commands. They do not have all the results from the tests that they have run. He has not been on any blood pressure meds. When I ask if he had high blood pressure, he stated he didn't know. To me that seemed a bit odd, I think all the rest of the family has been or is on meds for cholestrol and or blood pressure and some of us on both. Perhaps this spell was a warning and eye opener that he too needs to be on meds to keep things under control.

Bud went to Decatur, Indiana today for a vehicle, and Darwin picked one up in Fort Wayne. Have dinner in the oven and he should be home shortly. Will try and post some pictures later tonight.

Waiting for baby/sickness

My great niece is in St. Mary's not making much progress on having that little boy yet. Her mother is with her, but my other neice that was there ended up in the emergency room. She has an infection and went home.

Late afternoon, one of my brothers called and informed me our older brother had a stroke this p.m. and is in the hospital.

Have not heard anything new on either one of these items.

I hate the thought of the fact that he had a stroke, I remember everything we went thru with my dad when he had his strokes. Also makes me aware how important it is that all of us take care of ourselves. If you have high blood pressure, keep it under control.

So, my day is ending on a different kind of note.... mixed feelings. Will have a new great nephew in the near future, and a brother whom we don't see often since they live so far away not doing so well healthwise.

Thank goodness today was not as nuts as yesterday. Made for a much nicer day!!!!

What will today bring?

A fresh day ahead of us. What will today bring? Will it be a zoo day or not.
Dee, most days when it is like this I'd say I was the monkey. Into a lot of different things and never getting anything done.

I was able to do a bit of updating on my other blog. If you haven't checked it out you may want to.
http://verna-httpwwwbloggercompostsgblogid.blogspot.com/

I was really glad to be able to get out of here and go home by the end of the day. Fixed soup and cheese toasties for dinner the watched TV and crocheted. So a nice quiet evening was very welcome.

Julie once ask me what we do at night time after I get home from work. At her house with 3 little boys there is no time to sit to watch TV or crochet. But since there are only 2 of us in the house anymore I find that some evenings it is very quiet around our house. Sometimes almost too quiet. And since Bud did all the laundry yesterday I didn't have to worry about that either.

Sherri, you commented about not liking to touch other peoples skin....well, I have been taking training to do foot reflexology. And I must say that at times I think I should just have gone in for massage therapy. Some peoples feet are horrid. Then there are those who won't let you touch their feet at all, but will let you work on their hands. I find that ladies feet are much easier to do then men's. Most men's are so calloused that you have to use so much pressure that I find my fingers really hurting by the time I get done. (I'm sure most of my brothers feet would be the same).

I first started taking reflexology lessons and doing reflexology in hopes that I might be able to supplement my income a bit. I don't make a lot, but when I can put all the money back that I make doing the extra things we have it to use when we want to go on vacation. Earlier this year it is what we used to eat in New York City. Thanksgiving week it will be what I use to spend the week in South Dakota.

My massage therapist tells me I do a great job when she gets one, and that I will be able to do as many as I want per day or week after or when I wish to retire from this zoo office. She always has people wanting reflexology and have to wait 6-10 weeks to get in. Guess there are only 2 people here in Decatur who do it anymore. So it is a position I may be doing more research in and getting into within the next 3-5 years.

So the day has begun. The phones are not doing what they did yesterday. So I am going to be positive. It will be a good day!

Time Flys

Time really flys by when you are having fun. Or that is what I have always been told. Today I want to answer this phone by saying "Welcome to the Zoo".... oh, I guess this isn't the zoo after all, but it sure seems that way to me.

Utterly chaos....... These service men are going to drive me to drink something much
stronger then Mt. Dew or water.

They constantly call in and insist on talking to Julie. As tho I didn't know how to look up a few things.... WELL the last guy when he ask for her I Stated NO you can't talk to her, what can I do for you? (She was away from her desk) And yesterday and today she wants to throw them out in the middle of Rt. 51.

After all this is not my first day on this job. If I remember correctly Kim was 5 weeks old when I started this job...and she us more then 28 years old now. SO, I should be capable of looking up parts, warranty and about anything else they want to know.

People calling in. Why if you don't have heat would you not pay the extra and make sure that it was fixed that day?..... Yet when you don't get there the next morning bright and early they will call back and complain that we haven't been there yet.

If I ever change jobs, I want to be in a job where I don't have to listen to people complain...... Perhaps I should go to massage school and learn to be a massage therapist....at least 3/4 of the time people getting massages don't talk to you.

Thanksgiving Day for The Coleman Household

This is Thanksgiving Day for the Coleman household. Since I do not plan on being home on Thanksgiving Day I promised Bud I would cook him a turkey and some of the trimmings on a Sunday. Today is that Sunday. Turkey is in the oven, will add mashed potatoes (Real Potatoes-not box), and gravy and make some dressing. Hope I can manage to make dressing for only two since I used to make it at home for all of us. Then I did purchase a pumpkin pie as desert. More then enough food for the two of us. Being able to eat like this we are greatful and thankful for what we do have I know there are a lot of people in this world who don't have nearly as much as we have.
(I'm not crazy about turkey, so he will have plenty of left overs for enjoyment next week too.).
Thanksgiving week--Lord willing I will be spending it in South Dakota for the week. And on Thanksgiving Day he has a pick up to be made at the Chicago airport. So it is probably best that we have our Thanksgiving Feast early this year.

Extra money

Extra money can be made after work, especially if word of mouth advertising lets people know that you are capable of sewing. Hemming pants are nothing unusual for people to ask to be done, but today I was ask to take the sleeves out of the shirt. That was a first. But since he is wearing it under a uniform and sleeves can't show I battled with the Jersey knit and took the sleeves out of the shirt. Hope it is okay with the guy who ask me to do it for his son.
Gives me a bit more to stash in my vacation fund.
No, you can't get rich sewing for people, but I enjoy sewing so I might as well make use of my evening and be useful.

This week when they Leave

My daughter gave this to me for my birthday. I have it displayed behind me on the bookcase here at the office. Lately I am reminded that the later part of this is so true. We are glad when the service men are out the door and not roaming around the front of our desks. So the quicker they turn their time in from the day before and get out of the office the happier it makes us.

Why do some people always do things late?

Why do some people never do things on time. We requested everything to be in the boxes by the 26th so we could get them to Peoria on time.... Well yesterday someone dropped off another two boxes of things off at Big Lots. We went thru the things and found 16 more stockings...so now the count is 1234.... Julie's dad was going to Peoria today so he stopped and took the stuff to Peoria for us.... appreciate the stuff and the stockings, but had Gary not been able to take the stuff up when he was going anyway, one of us would have had to make a special trip to Peoria.

OH, yes, gas is 1.99 at some of the stations today...GREAT!!!!!

Today another nightmare for the phones and peoples attitudes. People want to have exact times and very impatient...then we have the service men today.. somehow they just don't get everything done that needs to be done...so they are short with the office staff...... On top of that we found out this morning that one of our installers has liver cancer. Not good! He didn't come in to work today. I don't know how much he will be working or what they plan to have him do.

Bud did laundry today, so we have clean clothes, Tonight I sent him to play cards with the fellows from Miles Chevrolet.
Perhaps he will come home in a better mood. Not had any work to do lately and he is not in the best moods when work is slow.

Final Stocking Count- 1218

Our final stocking count for the Decatur Area for 2008 is 1218..... More then we expected to begin with. Everything is all packed up ready to go. She will be taking it to Peoria in the morning.... Merry Christmas to all the soldiers!

Happy Halloween

This morning at Curves if you came in wearing a costume you were rewarded with a Liv Breast self-exam aid. So I thought why not. Here are some of the results.
Then Gaye Donahue brought us lips to wear.
We all had to take our costumes off to do our rounds on the machines..Way too hot to wear a costume to exercise in.

What a group, we had a blast.

Wearing our lips.

She came in later.

Drum Roll......... We are over 1000

Let's do a Drum roll, When Jason's grandmother came in today, we did a drum roll, she brought us # 1000...+ 68.... We made It. Over a 1000 already and some more to come in. What will our total be, we'll find out by the end of the week.

More Socks

It's a good thing I didn't have these done on Friday yet
Or you might not have been able to see me at all.
Boxes and boxes of socks... All different colors and designs.
Some people tried to be real fancy with theirs. ME? I just tried
to get as many done as possible in the short time we had to get them
done.

Week ends go WAY TO FAST!!!

Week ends, they go way too fast. Another one is coming to a end.... Just like our Operation Santa project for 2008.

My official count of sewing is 566, and yep I quit. Called it enough for this year. If the others in this town can come up with 500 we will have over 1,000 to send to the troops. The official count is not yet recorded because I do not have them to count and put in the boxes ready to go. By next week I should be able to give a full Official count as to how many we were able to complete and take to Peoria.
Put my sewing machine up and swept the floor. Yes, Kim there was a floor under that mess. Set up my quilt frame ready to put a baby quilt in frame. Stacked the boxes in the corner by the closet and in the future will try and start cutting stockings for next Christmas, 2009.
Went to the church Trunk or Treat tonight, but oh was it ever so cold and very windy. Brought the geraniums into the house. They say it could freeze tonight and how I hate to see flowers die because the frost got them.

You might have noticed I changed my picture. That was taken at the office on Friday. I was holding 75 of my 566 stockings.

Julie wanted me to hold all of the ones I made, I reminded her that was impossible since they already packaged 94 stockings ready to go.
Took two filled boxes out to her house when we went to let Jake out. They went to Peoria to see her brother yet before he heads out on the 6th.
So, I must be getting old. It isn't even 9 p.m yet and I am totally exhausted.
Nite.

Hump Day

If we can get thru today, we will have it made, on the downward bend to the week end.
When these socks and mdse are delivered to Peoria, I think I shall take a whole day and simply do NOTHING. Or is that possible? Probably not, since my sewing room looks like a tornado hit it. Last night I noticed that I actually felt a bit nauseated when I went in there. Where do I start? Kim would probably suggest, a big dumpster outside the back window. Open the window and start pitching. But, as of right now I just can't simply do that. It just needs to see a vacuum cleaner being used on the floor. (This olde gal seems to not be able to hit the garbage can with her little strings when she sews). Push the sewing machine back where it belongs and disassemble the make shift cutting table. Stacking a few things in the closet then it really wouldn't look too bad.
Of course, when I get this project done, I want to put in that crib size quilt and get it done before Thanksgiving if possible. But, definitely before Christmas. So I can get it in the mail to the little girl it is to go to. Hopefully it will make her very happy and keep her nice and warm when the snow flys.
This morning there was a live segment at Holy Family with Julie and the kids stuffing almost 100 stockings. The rest we will not stuff, it will all go to Peoria and they can stuff them there. It is live on WCIA Tv morning show with Amber Jenne.

http://illinoishomepage.net/content/morningshow

Julie brought me the ones his mother made, she got rather fancy with them. I wasn't going for the fancy stuff this year, I was going for quantity. If I do 98 more I will have done over 500 myself. The other night a gal from church brought me a ton more material that can be used for socks for next year. May have to make them two tone since some of it looks as tho it is very light colored.
I may try and sew a note in the toe of the ones that I sew next year. Kinda trying to figure out how I would or what I would say. "Sewn with love by Verna, Moundford Free Methodist Church, Decatur, IL." "Best Wishes from Verna, Moundford Free Methodist Church, Decatur, IL".....
Bud came home this morning from his Knoxville, TN run. Understand he is to go somewhere way up in Michigan for Friday and home on Saturday. Said this run was a two man run. So when I know he is out of town, I try and make the most of my time and do something I really need to get done, but have a hard time getting done if I have to stop and cook dinner of a evening.

So Guess it is past noon on Hump day. We have survived this day thus far, on the downward road to a couple more days off, perhaps I shall be able to get that room cleaned up this week end. (I don't have to rack my brains when I clean) so it should be fun and relaxing to get it all whipped back into shape again.
Guess time will tell.

Blue Mondays

This has been a day that we wanted to ask, "Is it Friday yet?" "How Long is this day going to be?"

One good thing, I got a phone call this morning and the puppy that on Saturday we thought was eaten by the coyote's has returned home and is okay. SO, hopefully Melissa and her husband can get down to get him ere he tries to gallivant to the neighbor's again. A farmer 3 miles away found him in his field and brought him back. I'm sure Iree will be very happy when he gets this guy.

Just cool enough that I think 3/4 of the people in Decatur turned their furnaces on and over 1/2 of them didn't work. So the phones have been a bit on the busy side today.

Bud went to St. Louis Airport to pick up friends of mine from church. He took them to the airport a week ago and they spent a week in Texas with their daughter. For a while I thought I would have to go get them. Bud's oxygen level has been very low (55 on Saturday when he went to the emergency room when he couldn't breathe). This morning the doctor once again pumped him fuller of steroids, etc and he is to check with them within 48 hours to see if he is feeling any better.

I'm sure Julie was very grateful that I didn't have to leave her here alone today with the way the phones have been ringing. But, if we can wade over the next 45 minutes we will be out of here for the evening. My desk is a mess, but tomorrow is another day. It doesn't have to all be done in one day.

Mike brought in coffee cake and some kind of real rich chocolate/marshmallow cubes...Very hard on the fact that I too, am trying to loose weight. As I ate the first one, my thoughts were---there goes my work out from this morning. I just simply blew it totally out the door! (But, oh were they ever good)!
So guess in the morning I will have to work extra hard to get rid of these calories today.

Another Busy Saturday

The past two nights there hasn't been a lot of sleep for me. Bud has been coughing so much that I simply thought he was going to pass out from all the coughing.
Last night I went out to help Julie sort items that we got for the socks. So it was late when I got home. On the way home I came up onto a real bad accident at
22nd Street and Pershing. I hate driving in the dark any way and it was hard to see it.Was upon it before I knew it. The man in the middle of the street told me to go East around the front of his van and not between the two vehicles since there was a lot of garbage on the street. Said he called for two ambulances, but they had not arrived yet. Someone, ran a red light.... As I continued on home, I was grateful Julie had gotten a phone call from her mother-in-law and I waited till she was off the phone before I left. Or I might have been right in the middle of the mess.
This morning, I went to Breakfast alone at Debbie's Diner and took his home to him, then left with my sewing machine and supplies in tow....To Thomas Jefferson to a scheduled sock sewing. There must have been 20-25 of us total. I really didn't turn around and count...I was busy sewing.... The lady to my right ask if I drive as fast as I sew....NOPE not me. I try to stay speed limit.
We made approximately 150 socks today total. When I boxed them up when I got home our new count is 454 plus they had about 200 more cut then we got sewed. So yep, I got socks to sew.... Sewed part of them tonight for a while.
After I left TJ's I went to Arthur for a Baby Shower for Tonya. I made a Christmas sock and rolled a baby quilt up and stuffed it inside. Was a challenge to get it inside, but it worked.
When I got home, Bud was not here... I knew he was feeling badly, I figured he went to the hospital, and they would keep him. But when I called him he was just around the corner coming back home. They just pumped him full of steriods, antibiotics, did a breathing treatment. Told him that the cat scan on Tuesday showed another anyurizum...(That ticks us off) they haven't bothered calling us about it. And 1/2 the time they won't tell me anything if I do call them.
They say it is still small and is right below the tharax wherever that is.
Called his oxygen level very low and breathing problem broncitus and His enphazema flaring up. I ask him how low his oxygen was, but, of course he didn't ask them.
Tonight he tells me he is feeling better, but his cough is still very rumbly and deep. Will there be any sleep tonight, or will I hear his every move? Someday, I will get another good night sleep.

The sock and baby blanket I gave to Tanya & "Toes" (His grandmother named him "Toes" since she is always walking on her toes.

Julie is proud of the first sock that she sewed. She doesn't do much sewing at all, I'm proud of her too!

So, yes it has been a busy day, but a good day all in all. And since I am supposed to be a greeter at the door tomorrow at church guess I'd best get some sleep. So away----off to bed we go. Hope everybody has a good night.
